QA TECHNICIAN TRAINEE - C SHIFT
SUMMARY:
Quality Technician I play a critical role in ensuring that our products, services, and operations meet the established customer standards. This position involves conducting thorough examinations, detailed inspections, and various tests to assess compliance with internal and external regulations and standards. Having a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of quality and safety.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Inspection Tasks:
- Inspects semi-finished components including, but not limited to, bolt blank stock, washers, internally and externally threaded fasteners, and raw material for conformance to customer specifications and production/manufacturing drawings.
- Inspects precision machined components and sub-assemblies for conformance to predetermined mechanical standards, specifications and tolerances according to the company’s quality procedures, production drawings, and industry standards.
- Final inspection of close tolerance fasteners by the company’s internal procedures and customer requirements
- Maintains inspection reports and records inspection data on department-approved forms.
- Able to use precision measuring equipment and perform detailed dimensional inspections as required.
- Coordinates inspection activities with the leads and employees in the area where work is being performed.
- Reads and comprehends blueprints.
- Responsible for scanning of paperwork, filing, data entry, and product certification as needed.
Lab Technician Tasks:
- Performs and assists in the physical and metallurgical tests on in-process and final production parts. Performs tasks associated with the movement of materials, supplies, and finished goods to designated areas throughout the facility.
- Performs preparation techniques of Metallurgical mounts such as grinding, cutting, polishing and etching.
- Assists in the preparation of in-process tests on setup parts from various manufacturing operations.
- Reads and understands drawings and specifications for correct test requirements, procedures and sampling plans.
- Verify calibration on all test equipment is current prior to use.
- Reports any safety violation, test equipment misusage and/or improperly performed work to Supervisor.
- Verifies and ensures all jobs and materials have accurate information on the identification tags and the correct documentation has been completed.
- Assist in raw material verification when needed.
- Move parts and materials to and from factories and departments as indicated on material documentation
- Delivers part samples to quality lab for inspection and evaluation when required
- Enters work order information in the Shop Floor System in preparation for shipping
- Review lab test results to ensure all operations have been performed and completed
- Assists in the Shipping and Receiving department with stocking and re-stocking, ensuring all product and materials has accurate weight and or piece count.
- Assist the Preliminary Material Review Team (PMRT)
- Sorts parts in the Quality Assurance Lab when needed
- Conducts lab sampling when needed
- Verification and inspection of raw material as required
Gage Room (Metrology Dept) Tasks:
- GageTrak System (CAL01/CAL02) – Create, maintain, and issue all gages used by production through the GageTrak System
- Control of Gage Room (CAL03) – monitor daily temperature and humidity requirements in gage room
- Trulok Setup (CAL04) – Use spreadsheet to find correct offset and insert
- Calibration (CAL05 - CAL18) – Calibration of various gages performed in house. Responsible to calibrate the gage, update the entry in the tracking system, and update calibration sticker. Example gages: micrometer, caliper, tri-rolls, broach gages, etc.
- Test Bolt Inventory Management (CAL19) – Control test bolt inventory in the gage room used by operators and technicians. Issue test bolts and request additional test bolts as needed from stock.
- New Gage Process (CAL20/CAL21) – Requesting quotes for new gages and inputting orders into ordering system Kissflow.
- Calibration Scheduling Control (CAL20, CAL22/23, & CAL26) – Request quotes for outside calibration, schedule, and coordinate all activities related to outside or internal calibrations.
- Reporting (CAL25) – Send weekly and biweekly reports to all production and quality areas for gage calibration due dates
- Certification review (CAL24 & CAL27) – Review lab and gage certs upon receipt for correct requirements and condition notes.
- Engineering Projects (CAL28) – Act as a gage expert and resource for various engineering project
- Measurement of Uncertainty Calculation (CAL29) – Control and maintain the measurement of uncertainty calculations for all required gages
Safety/ Compliance:
- Adheres and implements all company HSE policies, procedures, and practices.

This position has no supervisory duties.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent education.
- Minimum 1-3 years of metallurgical or physical laboratory experience.
- Understanding of test equipment and lab procedures.
- Or a combination of inspection and lab procedures
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic mainframe computer systems and familiar with Spreadsheet and Word Processing software; Database systems
Mathematical Skills
Ability to perform basic mathematical functions, (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) Ability to perform these operations using units and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
