PRODUCTION PLANNER II-BC40100  LOGISTIC/ PLANNING

SUMMARY
The Production Planner II coordinates and expedites the flow of production and materials within work centers, capacity, priority planning and re-planning according to the shop sequences and shipping schedule. The Planner II will coordinate, and secure inventory items based upon inventory levels and parts usage. Follows improvement plans to production processes, methods and controls to maximize efficiency of the manufacturing floor. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

•    Examine documents, materials, and products, and monitor work processes, in order to assess
completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards and specifications.

•    Review documents such as production schedules, work orders, and staffing tables to determine
personnel and materials requirements, and material priorities.

•    Confer with department supervisors and other personnel to assess progress and discuss changes.

•    Review and analyze ERP system to release work orders to schedule.

•    Revise production schedules when required due to design changes, labor or material shortages,
backlogs, or other interruptions, collaborating with management, marketing, sales, production, and engineering.

•    Confer with establishment personnel, vendors, and customers to coordinate production and
shipping activities, and to resolve complaints or eliminate delays.

•    Record production data, including volume produced consumption of raw materials, and quality
control measures.

•    Processes requisition, receives quotes and places purchase order necessary to meet production demand by monitoring and conducting follow ups on purchase orders to maintain on time delivery.

•    Analyses inventory and usage trends to determine procurement quantities, manage raw material inventories and which raw materials to be purchased.

•    Selects supplier based on upon optimum quality, delivery and cost criteria.

•    Maintain inventories of materials and supplies necessary to meet production demands.

•    Compile information, such as production rates and progress, materials inventories, materials and customer information to complete status reports.

•    Utilizes MRP system to maintain shop floor reporting and accurate records.

•    Prepares production reports.

•    Supports management with the Departmental Action Plans to achieve the Company's and Department’s long-term goals and objectives.

•    Commitment to communication, coordination and integration with other sales, planning, purchasing and production.

•    Recommends corrective actions and confirms full cycle of problem solving and prevention.

•    Maintain high standards of performance, quality and customer service within all departments.

•    Responsible for adhering to company policies and guidelines as prescribed by management

•    Responsible for the supporting and implementing company safety programs in the assigned shift.

•    Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. 

•    Implements and suggests waste elimination initiatives specifically related to the function and department such as EMS and recycling opportunities to elimination of production waste

•    Responsible for attending all training provided and for adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements and safe operating procedures at all times. 

•    Required to bring any known or suspected nonconformance for all company procedures or legal requirements to management’s attention immediately.

•    Continually seek opportunities to improve our HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting our results.

•    Other duties assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities  
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
May assist in the coaching and mentoring of entry level Production Planners.  
                             
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education and/or Experience

•    High School Diploma or equivalent; and a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field strongly preferred. 

•    Minimum 5 years working experience in a manufacturing environment preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience.

•    Minimum 1-2 years of Expeditor or Production Planning I direct experience preferred in a fast paced manufacturing environment

•    APICS Basics certification preferred


Language Skills 
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and processes or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills                               
Ability to work with mathematical concepts and ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability                               
Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract concrete variables.

Computer Skills                               
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced knowledge of department programs, Microsoft Word; Excel; Access; PowerPoint.
