Job Summary

The Master Electrician is responsible for a broad range of tasks, primarily focused on the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems in an industrial machining manufacturing setting. You must maintain a deep understanding of building code regulations to check and ensure compliance with the highest standards of building design and construction.  Success in this role will be demonstrated by employing effective process controls to ensure the reliability, safety, and efficient installation and maintenance of electrical systems. You will replace and repair electrical equipment and devices as required and pull permits where needed.

Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated starting pay range for the journeyman electrician is $28.51 to $38.10.  Compensation will be based on a number of factors such as experience, knowledge, licensure, etc.

Essential Functions

  • Installs new electrical systems, including wiring, fixtures, and outlets, as well as repairing and replacing faulty components
  • Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment. 
  • Accurately interprets and follows electrical blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to complete installations correctly
  • Identifies and resolves electrical issues by testing circuits, locating faults, and analyzing system malfunctions
  • Adheres to all local and national electrical codes and safety standards during installations and repairs
  • Performs routine inspections of electrical systems to ensure proper functionality and identifies potential problems
  • Ensures all electrical work meets quality standards and is completed according to specifications
  • Follows safety protocols, wearing appropriate protective gear, and maintaining a safe work environment

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED
  • Holds a valid Master Electrician license in the respective state or jurisdiction, demonstrating the required qualifications and experience
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical theory, principles, and practices, including wiring, circuits, electrical codes, and safety regulations. 
  • Solid understanding of both AC & DC systems and have worked with 480V systems
  • Exceptional ability using a wide range of electrical tools, equipment, and testing instruments, including multimeters, wire strippers, and diagnostic tools
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex electrical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions
  • Ability to lead, train, and supervise teams of electricians, providing guidance, mentorship, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with employees, contractors, and other professionals, providing clear instructions, and addressing concerns
  • Strong commitment to safety, understanding and adhering to all safety regulations, and promoting a safe work environment
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying, and working in various positions, including confined spaces
  • Successful completion of a recognized electrician 4-year apprenticeship program
  • At least 10 years of related experience.

Preferred

  • Commitment to ongoing learning and development in the electrical field, staying up to date with new technologies, codes, and industry best practices
  • Experience in a machine shop manufacturing environment
