Alltrista - Technician,Tooling II, Reedsville, Pa

 Position Summary

Ensure molds are repaired and fully functional to optimize quality, mold utilization and cavitation.

 

Primary Functions

  • Troubleshoots quality problems with the mold to identify root causes of deviant parts and performs necessary repairs to ensure parts made are within quality specifications.
  • Performs necessary machine repairs to spare parts to ensure mold use is optimized. Demonstrates proficiency in utilizing machining equipment in the tool shop to improve and repair molds to their optimal levels.
  • Analyzes existing molds and makes recommendations for mold corrections to improve customer satisfaction, cycle times, cavitation and life of the mold. Develops and implements an action plan to address these issues upon approval.
  • Utilizes production monitoring system to evaluate and continuously improve the mold preventative maintenance program on all molds. Properly documents all preventative maintenance and mold improvements.
  • Initiates communication and interaction with the Manufacturing Team to maintain full cavitation, utilization and efficiencies of the molds.
  • Actively participates in spare part analysis to develop cost efficient levels of spares. Maintains this established minimum inventory of spare components for each mold through coordination with the Supervisor and the approved tool vendors. For components removed from the mold, perform evaluation for repairability or order replacements with proper approvals.
  • Supports the team concept by performing multiple functions as assigned by management.
  • Supports project/program management with insight and participation in design reviews, communicating improvements and learned advantages.
  • Performs preventative maintenance activities to the molds and maintains the customer’s assets in peak functional condition.
  • Supports the QMS by adhering to the system requirements.
  • Understands and follows plant safety rules.  Helps to identify and eliminate any safety hazard or concern.  Assists in monitoring of quality of work output.
  • Maintains compliance with company policy and procedures.
  • Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
  • Responsible for reporting any problems or concerns to direct Supervisor. 
  • Maintains good working relations with all other employees.  Strives to have no conflicts with other employees.
  • Requires regular attendance to perform essential element as contained herein between the assigned start and end times for work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Key Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.  
  • Strong tooling background to include significant experience in close tolerance grinding, lathes and mills.
  • Strong troubleshooting/analytical skills.
  • Experience with hot runner systems.
  • Process knowledge (including electronic).
  • Experience in mold repair.
  • Experience with making and reading prints.
  • Physical skills necessary to utilize machining equipment.
  • Physical skills necessary to utilize mold disassembly; assemble tools and handle molds.
  • Self-motivated to learn and perform job tasks to meet or exceed customer and company expectations.
  • Demonstrates the capacity to work at an efficient rate to meet production goals and standards.
  • Effectively communicates with others both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work 10 hour shifts, as applicable.

 Environment: Normal manufacturing environments; work with machinery and media in or around confined spaces; exposure to chemicals, grease and oils.   

Physical: Sufficient physical ability to perform heavy lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs; reaching, kneeling, crawling, climbing; standing for moderate periods of time.   

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.

Other: Ability to work overtime or occasionally on weekends with short notice.
