Position Summary

Works in a team manner with the Shift Supervisor assisting on the floor with set-up of equipment, preparing materials, properly entering product into Epicor and organizing the warehouse to ensure maximum operation of equipment as directed by the Production Supervisor and or Management.

 

Primary Functions

  • Performs “Line Clearances” on the machine for job changes & sets up the necessary auxiliary equipment needed.
  • Cleans and performs preventative maintenance on auxiliary equipment, such as grinders, press hoppers, drying hoppers, conveyor belts and any other equipment as directed by Shift Supervisor, where applicable.
  • Prepares resin at proper drying temperatures according to procedure to include set-up and verification of drying equipment.
  • Manages press resin inventory.
  • Keeps color feeders along with Weigh Blenders supplied with resin colorants & additives as to not run out of product.
  • Ensures the proper mixture of resin, adding color concentrate and additives where necessary and cleaning the mixing bin, calculating resin mixture ratios, mixing material and regrind accordingly using material loading system.
  • Ensures the machines are loaded with material according to the production schedule (and visual verification) and replaces material as necessary.
  • Assists Inspector Packers with daily shift clean up, the preparation of materials and relief during breaks as needed.
  • Cleans various areas and items including warehouse, mezzanine, shipping areas, oil spills and equipment.
  • Complete 6-S audits in various areas as required, where applicable.
  • Supports Process Technician with daily press maintenance.
  • Moves full skids of product and wraps as necessary.
  • Provides primary support for cutlery and blow molding operations.
  • Assist the shipping personnel in the daily shipping and receiving functions as needed, where applicable.
  • Supports CIM (Mattec) by loading Scrap data as needed, where applicable.
  • Completes forklift inspections on a daily basis.
  • Maintains battery water levels on forklifts on a daily basis, where applicable.
  • Empty trash cans, including breakroom, and remove any debris at end of shift, where applicable.
  • Completes material lot numbers on machine start-ups and updates material lot traceability sheets as needed.
  • Supports the QMS by adhering to the system requirements.
  • Understands and follows plant safety rules.  Helps to identify and eliminate any safety hazard or concern. 
  • Maintains compliance with company policy and procedures.
  • Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
  • Responsible for reporting any problems or concerns to direct Supervisor. 
  • Maintains good working relations with all other employees.  Strives to have no conflicts with other employees.
  • Requires regular attendance to perform essential element as contained herein between the assigned start and end times for work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Key Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Self-motivated to learn and perform job tasks to meet or exceed customer and company expectations.
  • Hands-on mechanical inclination.
  • 2 to 3 years related material handling or production experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment including forklift experience.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate efforts with the overall shift goals established by the Supervisor.
  • Ability to work 12 hour shifts, as applicable.
  • Dayshift/nightshift schedule rotation every other month.

Environment: Normal manufacturing environments; work with machinery and media in or around confined spaces; exposure to chemicals, grease and oils. 

Physical: Sufficient physical ability to perform lifting and carrying in excess of 50 pounds;  reaching, kneeling, crawling, climbing; standing for moderate periods of time. 

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction

Other: Ability to work overtime or occasionally on weekends with short notice.
