LifeMade - Process Technician

Position Summary:

Oversees the manufacturing process of reusable gel including analyzing, adjusting and troubleshooting the operations of a form-fill and seal machine.

Primary Functions:

• Confer with supervisor to assist and coordinate operations and activities within the gel department, which includes planning and establishing work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
• Provides training to new associates.
• Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
• Observe work and monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards, including form-fill and seal machine program setup and efficiencies.
• Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs. 
• Compile the daily production reports including all paperwork for the start up and shut down of the production line.
• Assists in monitoring of quality of work output and maintenance procedures.
• Assists in conducting operations to meet established cost standards for use of materials, supplies and equipment.
• Follows instructions in the most efficient use of tools, machines and materials.
• Provides technical support which includes process and trouble shooting which will also including working with internal support to resolve problems.
• Maintains a neat and orderly working area and assists other departments in the cleanliness and organization of working areas when projects overlap other department areas.
• Provides input to supervisor on associate during performance evaluations.
• Enforce safety, communication and sanitation regulations for gel department.
• Helps to identify and eliminate any safety hazard or concern. 
• Responsible for reporting any problems or concerns to their direct Supervisor.   
• Encouraged to bring any ideas to light for possible usage in factory functions.
• Poses no direct threat to the health or safety of himself/herself, or others, or to property. Defined as a significant risk of substantial harm that cannot be eliminated or reduced to an acceptable level by reasonable accommodation.
• Requires regular attendance to perform essential element as contained herein between the assigned start and end times for work.
• Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.
• Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.

Education and Experience:

Education

• High School or GED equivalent.

Experience/Knowledge

• General knowledge of equipment process & maintenance
• 2 yr+ experience in manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Mechanical background
• Prior Kaizen/ Lean Manufacturing experience.
• Experience with a form fill and seal machine.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Requires up to 9 hours of standing/walking daily.
• Must be able to lift/carry up to 49 lbs.
• Must be able to push/pull up to 49 lbs.
• Must be able to bend/stoop/twist, crouch/squat, and reach above and below shoulders.
• Requires repetitive use of arm, wrist, and hand.
• Must be able to work near/with machinery and hand tools.
• Moderate/heavy exposure to heat and excessive noise.
• Ability to wear required PPE including hearing protection, safety glasses and steel/composite toe shoes.
• Annual hearing tests are required.
• Some overtime and occasional weekends required.
