Continuous Improvement Engineer - Greeneville, TN
Job Purpose/Scope:
Reporting to the Quality & Continuous Improvement Manager, the Continuous Improvement Engineer will assist plant leadership in implementing Continuous Improvement processes across multiple departments. The major role of this job is to focus on identifying and facilitating continuous improvement opportunities and act as a change agent to achieve superior performance within the assigned processes and projects. Key challenges for this position will be to gain buy-in from the location leaders and employees and serving as a coach to all employees on the Continuous Improvement methodologies and tools. This position serves in an advisory capacity with no direct reports.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Plan and facilitate training and working sessions for all employees involved in the Continuous Improvement practices and tools such as Six sigma, Kaizen, Root Cause Analysis, etc.
- Assist the Continuous Improvement Manager, site Managers, Supervisors and Process Engineers on subjects pertaining to Continuous Improvement analyses, audits, and recommendations.
- Support Continuous Improvement Manager with other related initiatives such as ISO/IATF certification, risk management, special projects, and presentations.
- Organize and facilitate follow-up sessions on job related processes and projects.
- Help manage and maintain KPI records, databases, internal communication boards and documents, work instructions, Value Stream Mapping, etc.
Education / Experience / Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related engineering degree.
- Master’s degree in Engineering Science or Business Administration desirable.
- Six Sigma Black Belt certification (preferred), Green Belt minimum.
- Quality Engineer Certification and Quality Auditor Certification from the American Society for Quality preferred.
- At least 7 years of experience in industrial or manufacturing areas, with at least 2 years in Continuous Improvement related subjects.
- Heavy manufacturing experience in similar industry preferred.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Proven experience with Lean Six Sigma methods and tools.
- Experience with Epicor a plus.
- Ability to set up, facilitate and lead process or service improvement sessions with a range of business stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, project and product management skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into measurable requirements
- Demonstrated skills in leading by influence.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to articulate ideas, give feedback, resolve conflicts, and motivate leaders and employees.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Power Point.
- Ability to work in an extremely fast paced environment.
