The National Team Wide Receiver Coach is responsible for training and developing student-athletes to compete at the highest level. This role focuses on position-specific skill development, game preparation, and overall player growth within the IMG Academy National Team program.
Position Responsibilities:
- Design and implement a position-specific training program for wide receivers.
- Evaluate and develop route running, catching techniques, blocking assignments, and game awareness to enhance performance.
- Partner with the offensive coordinator to align WR play with the overall offensive scheme.
- Provide film analysis and breakdowns, helping student-athletes refine their understanding of defensive coverages and route adjustments.
- Collaborate with performance coaches to optimize speed, agility, and conditioning for the wide receiver position.
- Prepare athletes psychologically for both practices and games, fostering confidence and leadership on and off the field.
- Mentor student-athletes, emphasizing both their football and personal development.
- Assist in the college recruiting process, helping athletes with exposure, highlight film preparation, and direct communication with college programs.
- Maintain strong relationships with parents/guardians, providing clear communication on player progress and development.
- Actively participate in tournaments, showcases, and events to support athlete exposure and recruitment efforts.
- Ensure a safe and structured training environment.
- Uphold IMG Academy’s four-year model for long-term athlete development.
- Support enrollment efforts by assisting sport advisors in generating leads and maintaining an accurate pipeline.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience coaching or playing wide receiver at the collegiate or professional level.
- Strong understanding of route concepts, defensive coverages, and passing game strategy.
- Ability to develop technical skills such as release techniques, hand-eye coordination, and footwork.
- Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field.
- High-level proficiency in film breakdown and game preparation.
- Passion for developing high-character, high-performing student-athletes.
- Strong ability to collaborate with offensive staff and other position coaches.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to mentor and guide athletes through the recruiting process.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience playing/coaching at the professional or Power 5 collegiate level.
- CPR certification.
- Bilingual.
- Valid driver's license with ability to travel for tournaments, games, and recruiting events.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions for extended periods.
- Mobility to move around campus, including fields, gym, and weight room.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
