The Head Football Coach is responsible for developing and implementing instruction, coaching and training programs for our Student-Athletes; this includes supervision, coaching and development of football coaches.
Position Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and monitor football training programs for all student athletes in order to achieve performance progress
- Supervise full/part time staff, visiting coaches, etc. to assist with the football program
- Meet with coaches to discuss sport and player specific needs and design programs accordingly
- Assesses the skill development of each student-athlete, and partners with school staff and performance coaches to ensure their ongoing comprehensive development
- Assists with the psychological preparation of the student-athlete in both pre-game and post-game
- Develops motivational approach to practice and games
- Works to develop comprehensive knowledge of football in decision-making, handling authority and setting and meeting objectives
- Interacts with the student-athlete as a mentor and as an educator of the sport
- Partners with the student-athlete’s parent/guardian regarding their overall development
- Effectively communicates to student-athletes and their parents/guardians
- Assures that proper safety is maintained
- Assists in the college placement of the student-athlete
- Travels to games and other events as needed
- Assists in the recruiting of prospective student-athletes
- Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethic codes
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience in coaching and/or playing football at the professional and/or collegiate level
- Management experience to include coaching, development, interviewing, etc.
- Proficiency in all football training and instructional techniques
- Excellent teaching, management, and supervisory skills
- Strong commitment to student-athletes and their development
- Desire to work collaboratively with colleagues
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to comprehensive excellence
Preferred Skills
- CPR Certification
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Ability to lift, move, push and pull equipment in excess of 40 pounds
- Ability to handle outdoor conditions for a reasonable period of time
- Ability to move around campus including gym, turf, fields, etc.
- Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays
