The Performance Dietitian, Summer will be responsible for To providing world class nutrition services in order to help IMG athletes and clients maximize performance through nutrition.
Position Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver practical, educational, entertaining, and age-appropriate nutrition content to groups and individuals of a variety of ages who participate in a variety of sports
- Deliver 1:1 and group sessions for camp athletes, adult athletes, and professional athletes, as indicated.
- Tailor message accordingly to a broad client base ranging from youth to elite athletes across a range of sports, cultures, and countries.
- Promote the value of nutrition for performance to coaches and athletes on campus.
- Ensure nutrition services at IMG Academy are based on the most recent, evidence-based practices in the field.
- Work with Strength & Conditioning, Athletic Training, Mental Conditioning, Sport Science, and the Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI) to optimize performance and recovery.
- Collaborate with other APD disciplines that work with campers to provide the best service to the athletes and promote a team approach to education and support.
- Work collaboratively with various departments across campus to promote the value of nutrition education.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Registered Dietitian (RD)
- State Licensure in FL (LD) or State Licensure eligibility within 30 days of hire.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or Sports Nutrition.
- Ability to comply with legislation in Florida in relation to Nutrition services and advice.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and motivational skills.
- Understanding of latest research in the field of nutrition.
- Ability to take accurate measurements, including body weight and height.
- Experience with nutrient analysis software.
- Strong written and verbal presentation skills with the ability to interface with a variety of audiences.
- Read/write/speak and understand English.
- Auditory and visual ability to assess and provide nutrition care.
- Knowledge and ability to use PC and related software.
- Ability to understand rules of various sports governing bodies regarding restricted substances and supplements.
- Ability to deliver current knowledge in realistic and practical terms.
- Strong ability to connect well with the younger athlete.
- Perceived credibility as a subject matter expert in the field of Nutrition.
- Meet professional standards when working with clients, department staff, interns, and other professionals. This includes the ability to work with strong personalities and problem solve.
- Participate in a team environment to ensure best practices of nutrition service.
- Able to troubleshoot situations and deal with any unique situations that may arise.
- Proactive personality who is a role model for nutrition on IMG Academy campus.
- Strong time management, adaptability and flexibility.
- Being open and responsive to feedback.
- Strong classroom management skills to facilitate a conducive learning environment.
- Strong customer service skills.
Preferred Skills
- Master of Science in nutrition or exercise related field.
- CSSD (Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics)
- Multi-lingual
- Experience working with a youth population
- Experience as an athlete or coach
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Ability to lift, move, push and pull equipment or boxes in excess of 40lbs.
- Should be able to handle outdoor temperatures for a reasonable period of time.
- Must be able to move around campus which includes gym, turf, fields, etc.
- Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays is required
