The general hourly range for this position is $19.25 - 22.60. Salary offers will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, skills, training and education.

 

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s most effective animal advocacy organization, is seeking a Receptionist for the DC Office Administration department. In this position you will manage all aspects of visitors to the DC office as well as remote staff utilizing the suite. You will provide administrative support to staff and serve as liaison for building management ticketing system.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages the reception area including greeting visitors, managing temporary fobs, notifying staff of guest’s arrival, scheduling trainings and meetings as requested;
  • Manages visiting staff space requests and requirements, including ensuring hoteling space is available, providing necessary orientation and office supplies for visiting employees, and adjusting to accommodate for last-minute changes;
  • Provides administrative support to staff, troubleshoots equipment, conference room set up, coordinates catering/ordering food, and any other requests by staff;
  • Use building management ticketing system to schedule vendors, visiting employees, guests, maintain COI’s within the COI system, schedule repairs and maintenance with building facilities;
  • Acts as first point of contact in, and coordinates staff response to, emergency situations, including (but not limited to) natural disasters, fires, threats, active shooters, and indirect threats that affect daily operations;
  • Performs other duties or responsibilities, as assigned.

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree or equivalent strongly preferred;
  • A minimum of two (2) years reception experience, is preferred;
  • Notary Public, or willingness to get Notary Certified;
  • Proficiency of Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook);
  • Must be professional, reliable, punctual, and customer service oriented;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Must possess strong knowledge of office procedures and practices;
  • Ability to remain calm in emergency situations;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, meeting time-sensitive deadlines;
  • Attention to detail and commitment to excellence demonstrated by the delivery of quality and timely outcomes;
  • Strong interpersonal skills are necessary;
  • Strong interest in animal protection issues preferred.

 

This is a full time, in-person position based in Washington, DC.
