A Day in the Life
As an LPN or RN, Staff Nurse at Home of the Innocents, you will provide top-tier medical care to children and young adults with diverse needs in a supportive, trauma-informed environment. You will play a vital role in assessing, planning, and implementing individualized care plans, while maintaining a nurturing, safe, and therapeutic atmosphere for our residents.
How This Position Contributes to Our Mission
- Deliver compassionate nursing care to children with complex medical needs, ensuring their health, safety, and comfort.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design and implement care plans tailored to each child’s unique needs.
- Provide tracheostomy and ventilator care, with training available for those new to this area.
- Foster a nurturing, trauma-informed environment that prioritizes the emotional and physical well-being of residents.
- Educate residents and their families on managing medical conditions to promote better long-term health outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
- Monitor and manage medications, treatments, and interventions according to physicians' orders.
LPN or RN, Staff Nurse Skills and Qualifications
- Current LPN license in the state of Kentucky.
- CPR/BLS certification.
- Previous experience in school nursing, pediatrics, or long-term care preferred but not required.
- Open to gaining or expanding experience with vents, trachs, and medically complex care.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a passion for working with children and families.
- Commitment to trauma-informed care and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
