Position: Clinical Social Worker – KCC

 

A Day in the Life:

As a Clinical Social Worker, you will provide trauma-informed and medically related social services that promote the emotional and psychosocial well-being of residents in the Kosair for Kids Complex Care Center. Collaborating with the Vice President of Clinical Effectiveness, departmental leadership, physicians, and the interdisciplinary care team, you will offer therapy, guidance, advocacy, and support. You will work closely with residents and their families to address emotional and psychosocial needs, ensuring they receive compassionate and comprehensive care.

 

Clinical Social Worker Responsibilities:

  • Provide trauma-informed social services to support residents and their families, focusing on advocacy, emotional well-being, and navigating the healthcare continuum.
  • Collaborate with parents, guardians, and residents to resolve psychosocial and emotional challenges through individualized care planning.
  • Facilitate Family Council meetings to provide support, guidance, and communication, fostering connection among parents, guardians, and the organization.
  • Educate and train facility stakeholders on resident rights, psychosocial needs, and facility regulations in collaboration with the KCC Training and Development Department.
  • Support residents and families in asserting their rights and resolving grievances, partnering with leadership as needed.
  • Complete comprehensive social histories, including trauma histories, to communicate and incorporate factors for consideration into residents' comprehensive care plan.
  • Promote the organization’s mission and core values by fostering a culture of compassion, wellness, collaboration, and empowerment.

 

Clinical Social Worker Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related human services field (e.g., psychology, special education, rehabilitation counseling) required; Master of Social Work preferred.
  • Current, unencumbered Commonwealth of Kentucky Certified Social Work (CSW) license preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of supervised social work experience in a healthcare setting required.
  • Current CPR/Basic Life Support certification required (training provided).
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong empathy, emotional stability, and the ability to provide support during stressful or crisis situations.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to long-term skilled nursing care.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
