Project Engineer (Heavy Civil)
SUMMARY
The Project Engineer has responsibility for coordination of technical activities on assigned projects. Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates in conjunction with the Project Manager; monitors work for quality assurance and quality control, accepted engineering practices and standards, ensures effective communication and coordination on assigned project between all disciplines and all other project assignments. The Project Manager may delegate certain project management responsibilities to the Project Engineer, including day-to-day interaction with the Client's designated representative as well as coordination of all internal activities performed by Haydon’s staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Submittal & Shop Drawing Reviews
- Project Controls including Document Control, RFI’s, and Schedule Updates
- Daily Subcontractor Management
- Quantity Tracking & Verification including performing work Takeoffs
- Quality Assurance/Quality Control
- Requires extensive regular contact with assigned Haydon crews and/or subcontractors
- Participating in Owner and Subcontractor meetings

QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering; 0-3 years experience in heavy civil and related functions plus thorough knowledge of civil construction industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience considered. Excellent skills in P6 scheduling software and excellent computer skills Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, On Center OST, and MS Project. High energy level and the ability to inspire and motivate a team. Understands and abides by all government processes and regulations.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to type, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
