Financial Accountant (Flexible Part-Time) - Fargo
The Financial Accountant is responsible for aspects relating to the Company’s accounting function. This position works with tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, accounts payable, financial reporting, quarterly and yearend audit preparation, and support of budget and forecast activities. Starting wage $25/hour (or more based on experience).
- This role is flexible part-time, working approximately 24 hours per week.
- Working between 4 and 5 days of the week in-office, with flexibility in the schedule within those days.
Job Duties:
- Apply proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.
- Obtain and review property level bank reconciliations, balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statements, property budgets and forecasts from third party property managers.
- Perform and participate in daily operations of the Finance and Accounting Department, including:
- Accurately record income, expenses and changes in assets and liabilities on a monthly basis.
- Review capital expenditures for proper capitalization or expense under company policy.
- Responsible for daily coding and workflow initiation for the timely payment of all payables.
- Ensure vendor invoices and receipts/deposits are properly assigned property codes and GL accounts.
- Prepare monthly accounting debt related workpapers as assigned.
- Ensure proper lien waivers are sent out and obtained for all capital projects billed.
- Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts (examples include but are not limited to Cash, RE Taxes, Insurance and Fixed Assets) and applicable schedules to balance the general ledger, post related entries, and ensure accurate reporting.
- Ensure vendor invoices and receipts/deposits are properly assigned property codes and GL accounts.

- Understands the need for excellent verbal and written communication skills and display a positive and professional attitude.
- Is highly organized with strong attention to detail and can manage multiple priorities.
- Loves Excel.
Education & Experience:
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, manage time, as well as possess an orientation toward details.
- Prior Accounts Payable or Receivables experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related subject preferred; or two to four years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Experience in Yardi Property Management Software and Microsoft Power BI is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite including SharePoint, Word, Outlook and especially Excel is preferred.
- Working knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), practices, standards, laws and regulations; and comfort with some complex accounting issues preferred. SEC reporting experience preferred but not required.
