Surface Operator

Experience and abilities you will need:

• Driver's License in good standing (Required)
• High school or equivalent (Preferred)
• Heavy equipment experience operating a front-end loaders required.
• Heavy equipment experience on skid steer, scrapers and dozer preferred but not required.
• Ability / willingness to work any shift assigned (days, swings, weekends and graves) required.  We are a 24/7 operation.
• MSHA Certification (Preferred)
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Work in a fast-paced, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly and up to 80 pounds on occasion.
• Must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, non-DOT physical, and DMV check.
• Must live within 60 miles of Hesperus Co. or be willing to relocate. 

MSHA certification required, 16 or 32-hour training course (2 or 4 days of classroom training depending on surface or underground or both).  Training is free of charge, but you do not get paid to attend training.

Positions start through a staffing agency at $20/hr.  If you are successful, after approximately 90 days you would be converted to a GCC employee and would be paid $29.29/hr.

What you will do:

The Surface Operator is responsible for safely operating heavy equipment to support surface mining operations.  Position also requires willingness and ability to work outside the cab on a variety of physical tasks as assigned. (not an all-inclusive job description)
