The Plant Operator I is a skilled position requiring a thorough understanding of the aggregate and or asphalt business. Plant Operator I controls the process to produce asphalt from raw ingredients and additives according to predetermined specifications using computer batching software. Verifies correct material blends are used in correct dosages and provides verification that the product batched meets the specifications established by company and customer. This position requires day-to-day interaction with other employees.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate a positive safety culture at the plant location and comply with company policies and safety standards
  • Perform walk-around and site inspections for all equipment to identify and correct unsafe conditions.
  • Responsible for preventative maintenance to ensure equipment is properly maintained and serviced as needed.
  • Managing day to day functions of the plant
  • Performs opening, start up and shutdown of plant
  • Interacting regularly with dispatchers, haulers, drivers, customers, operations, production and quality control personnel.
  • Daily inspection of entire plant facility.
  • Thorough working knowledge of computer/batching system
  • Monitor inventory levels of all mix materials.
  • Accurately complete plant reports and other documentation as needed.
  • Monitor production levels and adjust production as needed.
  • Perform walk-around and site inspections for all equipment to identify and correct unsafe conditions.

Required:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 2 or more years of Plant Operator experience
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Knowledge of office systems, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products, i.e., Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Must have the ability to handle several projects at once, while maintaining tight deadlines.
  • Ability to perform moderately complex mathematical equations as applicable.
  • Must demonstrate excellent safety awareness, and a willingness to comply with company policies and safety standards.
