HVAC/Refrigeration Maintenance
The HVAC/Refrigeration Technician services and repairs all types of commercial food- service, refrigeration, and HVAC systems (reach-in coolers/freezers, walk-in coolers/freezers, ice machines, A/C units, furnaces, make-up air units, beverage dispensers, hot holds, ovens, griddles, fryers, etc.)
This position requires no weekend or on-call hours.
General Responsibilities:
- Inspects, repairs, modifies, and installs HVAC and refrigeration equipment including refrigeration and air conditioning compressors, receivers, condensers, expansion valves, motors, and coils.
- Conducts regular preventive maintenance inspections of refrigeration units, heating and ventilating units, including gas and electrically operated air conditioning equipment.
- Repairs or replace defective parts in units and equipment and their controls, including thermostats, automatic switches, fan controls, log switches, damper motors, louvers, relays, filters, controls, belts, compressors, heat exchangers, high limit controls, pressure controls, safety valves, and automatic gas valves.
- Operates a variety of hand and power tools, welder torch, vacuum pump, test equipment utilized in the trade, and motor vehicle; maintain equipment in effective and safe working condition; maintain parts and tool inventory.
- Performs skilled electrical maintenance work in the repair, installation and alteration of HVAC, refrigeration, and cooking equipment, components, timers, motors, and wiring systems as needed.
- Installs and calibrates systems; installs copper tubing and repair pipes and tubing as necessary; tests joints and insulates pipes of refrigeration and air conditioning systems rebuild pressure and temperature safety valves and water pumps.
- Installs, rebuilds, replaces, or repairs fans, motors, thermostats, fuses, filters, bearings, valves, controls, gaskets, and other equipment, as necessary.
- Repairs remote, self-contained, and multiplex refrigeration equipment, ice machines, reach in and walk in coolers and freezers, hot holds, fryers, griddles, fountain and hot/frozen beverage dispensers.
5+ years’ experience in commercial HVAC/R position; 3+ years’ experience in commercial cooking equipment, 3+ years’ experience in general building repair and maintenance (light plumbing and electrical); 3+ years’ experience interacting within a computerized work order system; valid driver license.
Certifications: EPA Type I and II required; NATE certification desired but not required.
