We have an incredible opportunity for a dynamic Senior Human Resources Generalist to join our growing New York Team!

Responsibilities:   

  • Address and mediate employee relations issues, including conflicts, grievances, and disciplinary actions, ensuring a fair, respectful, and harmonious work environment.
  • Lead investigations into allegations of misconduct, performance issues, or policy violations, ensuring fairness, confidentiality, and compliance with company policies.
  • Implement and manage a progressive disciplinary process, ensuring consistency and fairness when addressing performance or behavioral issues.
  • Apply resolutions of disputes between employees and management or between employees themselves.
  • Manage and document employee conduct, warnings, performance evaluations, and corrective actions to ensure alignment with policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the full process of employee terminations, ensuring compliance with legal requirements (e.g., final paychecks, severance).
  • Conduct exit interviews to gain insights into employee departures and leverage feedback for continuous improvement in workplace culture and retention strategies.
  • Collaborate with legal and management teams to mitigate the risk of wrongful termination claims and ensure adherence to employment laws.
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with leave policies, including FMLA, workers’ compensation, and other leave-related regulations.
  • Provide guidance to employees regarding their leave options, rights, and obligations, ensuring clear communication and proper documentation.
  • Manage workers’ compensation claims and ensure the timely resolution of related matters.
  • Facilitate the reintegration of employees returning from extended leave, ensuring necessary accommodation is made.
  • Act as a liaison between management and the union, ensuring compliance with union agreements and managing arbitration processes.
  • Provide specialized assistance to both Union and Non-Union employees, supporting departmental and executive management as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in HRIS and ensure compliance with all relevant state, federal, and local laws. 

  

Qualifications:  

  • 3+ years of experience in HR management, with a strong background in employee relations, HR investigations, grievances, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish required.
  • PHR (Professional in Human Resources) certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and a proactive, adaptable mindset.
  • Experience working in both Union and Non-Union environments, including managing arbitration and compliance with union agreements, preferred.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and Applicant Tracking Systems for efficient HR management and record-keeping.
  • Experience in managing workers' compensation claims and familiarity with related regulations.
  • In-depth understanding of employment laws (e.g., FMLA, ADA, OSHA) and experience with employee investigations.
  • Strong judgment, decision-making skills, and the ability to handle sensitive HR matters with diplomacy and tact.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for conflict resolution and relationship building.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational needs and foster an inclusive, positive workplace culture.
