Job Overview:
As the primary customer contact, the Program Manager will own, lead and orchestrate the resources of the program to deliver on the contractual obligations to the customer. This is a direct-hire, full-time opportunity, reporting to the Sr Program Manager.
Primary Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
• The primary tasks for this position include, but are not limited to the following:
• Ability to clearly define project scope and confirm alignment with the customer.
• Manage the customer to minimize project scope creep.
• Lead the cross-functional team through the execution of DMS Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) launch process.
• Develop and obtain cross-functional commitment to a credible plan to deliver the program within scope.
• Lead and drive accountability within the cross-functional team.
• Execute re-occurring cross-functional team meetings to ensure team members have clear expectations of program deliverables and team is aligned with customer expectations.
• Eliminate surprises by fostering cross-functional communication and coordination of with Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, MP&L, Quality and Finance.
• Ultimately accountable for managing program launch plan to execute customer and internal deliverables.
• Develops a deep understanding of customer-specific and governmental regulations specific to the product/program.
• Monitor engineering-related activities to ensure product or program design/cost objectives are met.
• Prepare and present program status at monthly internal and customer program Gate review meetings and escalate any program scope risk.
• Proactively track and manage program risk and opportunities.
• Preside over regular, cross-functional team change control meetings to seamlessly implement engineering changes.
• Proactively escalate to solicit management support for any risk of not delivering to project scope.
• Insist on a “both/and” approach to team member delivery on tasks, as opposed to an “either/or” approach with a careful eye to resource requirements to meet commitments.
Required Skills/Education/Experience:
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and/or qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain or a related technical field is required
• (7+) years of experience in corporate and/or business-settings.
• Experience in a disciplined Program Management environment based on logical program task sequencing and the mutual reliance of different functions represented on the team.
• Must possess extensive knowledge and experience in Launch processes - from cradle-to-grave.
• Ability to present complex information and convey messages in a manner appropriate for different levels of the internal and customer organizations.
• Experience in leading/closing technical and financial negotiations.
• Able to perform in a fast-paced environment where change is common.
