Sr. Payroll Specialist
Summary:
The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for managing complex payroll issues and supporting the Payroll Accountant in daily operations. This role involves processing off-cycle payroll, handling multi-state payroll for terminations, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring accuracy across various systems. Experience in the restaurant industry is a plus, especially given the unique payroll intricacies for one of our venues in California. This is an hourly position that will require availability on weekends and evenings.
Responsibilities:
Payroll:
- Ensure timeliness and accuracy of payroll processing for all Cosm employees
- Oversee the integrity of payroll data input into payroll system
- Support the Payroll Accountant with day-to-day payroll operations, including multi-state payroll processing and terminations.
- Review timesheets for accuracy, including missed hours and tips.
- Reconcile data between different systems to ensure accuracy.
- Handle complex payroll issues and provide resolution.
- Collaborate with HR and Payroll Accountant on various payroll tasks and projects.
- Troubleshoot discrepancies, exceptions, payment holds, compliance issues, etc.
Requirements:
- 5+ years’ experience payroll processing required
- Proven experience in payroll processing within the restaurant and retail industry, particularly with California payroll regulations.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills preferred
- Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with Dayforce; experience with Tiphaus and Micros is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
- Experience with multi-state payroll is required
- Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others; conducts working relationships in a manner acceptable to others and the organization

The annualized base salary range for this position in California is $28/hr. to $40/hr. The base salary offered will factor in internal equity and may also vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and relevant experience, among other factors.
