Economic Development Director

SUMMARY: The Director of Economic Development will be responsible for directing the overall operation of Economic Development including transit center districts, commercial and industrial areas, retail and restaurant sectors. Reports to the Executive Director of Development Services.

• Knowledge of public administration and governmental operations
• Knowledge of public relations principals, especially regarding managing change and sensitive topics
• Knowledge of public/private partnerships
• Knowledge of incentives and financial policies related to development
• Skilled in negotiating development and land acquisition agreements
• Skilled in analyzing and developing policies and procedures
• Skilled in identifying complex problems and have a proactive, solution-oriented mindset and collaborative multidisciplinary approach
• Skilled in projecting consequences of proposed actions
• Skilled in implementing recommendations in support of goals
• Skilled in analytical and strategic thinking
• Skilled in reading, interpreting, applying, and explaining laws, codes, ordinances, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
• Ability to work on confidential and time-sensitive prospects
• Ability to prepare and maintain the department’s budget
• Ability to prepare clear and concise reports, including oral, written and audio/visual presentations

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field.
• Eight years of progressively responsible experience.
• Master’s Degree or Graduate of The University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute or equivalent preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Frequent sitting, talking, seeing, hearing, and manual dexterity.
• Occasional lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds.
• Work is typically performed in a standard office environment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Must pass pre-employment drug test
• Must pass criminal history check
• Must pass motor vehicle records check

PAY RATE:

$150,000 annual salary dependent on qualifications
