Wellness Health Educator

We are looking for a passionate and energetic Wellness Health Educator to join our team! Inspire youth aged 13 to 18 by leading engaging wellness education sessions on topics like reproductive health, mindfulness, nutrition, and physical activity. Provide one-on-one health coaching, facilitate school-based clubs, and connect with the community to promote healthier lifestyles.  Join our Health and Wellness team to coach the next generation of people helping people!

Qualifications:

Health Educator I:  

  • Has a BA/BS degree in Social Science, Family Studies, Child Development, Health Education, Health Sciences, Psychology, or related field.

  • Has experience working with adolescents preferred.

  • Has experience in providing health education and public speaking preferred.

  • Is Bilingual (Preferred)

Health Educator II:  

  • Has a BA/BS degree in Social Science, Family Studies, Child Development, Health Education, Health Sciences, Psychology, or related field.

  • Has 1 year of on-the-job experience, proficiently fulfilling the Essential Functions of a Wellness Health Educator I.

  • Is Bilingual (Preferred)

Health Educator III:  

  • Has a BA/BS degree in Social Science, Family Studies, Child Development, Health Education, Health Sciences, Psychology or related field. 

  • Has 1 year of on-the-job experience, proficiently fulfilling the Essential Functions of a Wellness Health Educator II.

  • Must have necessary health and/or fitness certifications accredited from a qualified and reputable agency as required by programs scope of work. 

  • Is Bilingual (Preferred)

 

As the Wellness Health Educator you will:

  • Recruit and encourage students to participate in Teen Wellness activities and services. 
  • Assist with the implementation of the goals and objectives for the Teen Wellness Programs.
  • Conduct wellness education for youth aged 13 to 18 in high school, middle school, and community settings. Topics may include and are not limited to reproductive health, mindfulness, nutrition, and/or physical activity. 
  • Provide one-on-one health coaching to guide and support youth in achieving healthier lifestyles.
  • Discuss the availability of free, confidential, teen-friendly FPACT services and provide referrals to other community resources, as appropriate.
  • Engage youth in program planning and implementation through the facilitation of school-based clubs and/or community workgroups.
  • Collect and enter data in Client Track, maintain accurate records, and assist supervisor in compiling data for reports.
  • Establish relationships with community members, school staff, local businesses, volunteers, and the Department staff to assist in coordinating program activities.
  • Assist with program marketing, promotion, social media, special projects, and events.
  • Attend training and research current and accurate health education information and issues affecting teen health.
  • Use reasonable precautions in the performance of one’s duties and adhere to all applicable safety rules and practices, and act in such a manner as to assure at all times maximum safety to one’s self, fellow employees, clients and children. 
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • Must be able to relate well to all people of the community regardless of color, national origin, religion, sex, pregnancy, age, marital status, veteran status, sexual orientation, disability or socio-economic level.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age by date of hire. 

  • Must comply with the CAPSLO COVID-19 Vaccination Policy, either being fully vaccinated or sign a COVID-19 vaccination declination form.

  • Based on program, a current TB skin test/Chest X-Ray may be required. 

  • Employment is contingent upon meeting all applicable job requirements and background requirements. A criminal history clearance is required prior to employment. 

  • Upon hire, agency staff will check the Megan’s Law (or the current sexual predator website) to ensure each staff being hired is clear for employment. Agency staff will check the website annually to ensure all program staff are cleared to work.
