Position Overview:
As a Diesel Mechanic, you are responsible for diagnosing, repairing and maintaining diesel engines and various components of our fleet of heavy duty vehicles, machinery and equipment. You are responsible for ensuring that all vehicles and equipment operate efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities:
- Adhering to all safety protocols
- Performing diagnostic tests on diesel engines and related systems
- Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues
- Conducting repairs on engines, transmission systems, exhaust systems, brakes systems, hydraulic systems and electrical components
- Carrying out regular maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements and tire rotations
- Maintaining records of maintenance and repairs
- Replacing or repairing defective parts using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment
- Maintaining an organized, clean and safe working environment
- Communicating inventory needs of parts and materials to leadership & inventory/parts team
- Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and company policies
- Willingness to continued education and training opportunities
- Communicating effectively with vehicle operators regarding maintenance needs and repairs
- Providing detailed reports on the work performed and any additional required actions
- Working as a team; assisting other mechanics
- Flexibility to work various or additional shifts, as needed including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
Experience:
- Preferred: 3-5 years experience as a diesel mechanic or related field
- Preferred: Technical degree or certification in diesel mechanics or related field
- Preferred but not required: Valid Driver’s License & CDL-A
Schedule:
- 9:00pm - 5:30am
- 5x 8hr shifts
- Flexibility to work various or additional shifts as needed, including evening, weekends and holidays
Environment:
- Work environment will vary with temperatures
- $400 annual tool allowance
Skills:
- Physical abilities: May be required to lift up to 80-85lbs.; standing, bending, lifting and twisting for up to 90% of your shift; frequently lifting product from various heights including floor level to over your head; Ability to stand or walk at least 10 hours daily; working in various temperature controlled environments; the ability to operate required material handling equipment – getting on and off equipment throughout shift
- Strong communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers and leaders on a daily basis
- Organizational Skills: Ability to fulfill customer orders in a timely manner; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Working in a team based environment: Working independently and as a team player to ensure completion of all work assignments
- Quality: Maintain integrity and high standards of product handling from all perspectives
- Safety Culture: Maintain and drive safety policies; driving for accountability of safe practices throughout shift
