Fleet Refrigeration Technician

The purpose of a Fleet Refrigeration Technician is to repair delivery equipment including tractors, trailers, bobtails and passenger vehicles or any piece of equipment used for the delivery and unloading of merchandise. This position also installs and repairs industrial and commercial refrigerating systems. • Perform duties by following the Company’s safety standards. • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical problems. • Repair delivery equipment, tractors, trailers, bobtails and passenger vehicles or any piece of equipment used for the delivery and unloading of merchandise. Document repairs. • Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment; Maintain refrigeration system. • Will need to perform preventative maintenance and repairs on reefer unit & trailer • Trailer repairs include, air system repair, brakes, wheel seals, back doors

Job Qualifications:

• Must be able to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical problems. • Must be able to communicate with supervisors and shop associates. • Must be able to follow instructions and be a self-starter. • Must be capable of working independently with a minimum amount of supervision. • Must be willing to work odd hours and shift work (nights). • Material handling equipment experience is a plus since a fork lift is used on occasion. • Must be able to walk extensively; Must be able to stand for long periods of time usually for 8-10 hours • Must be able to bend at the waist; stoop to reach and squat to lift heavy items in a proper manner and operate lift assisting devices. • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. • Frequently required to sit, stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Occasionally required to climb or balance. • Must be able to lift 30-60 lbs. repetitively and heavier items weighing up to 100 lbs. occasionally and frequently push or pull three-hundred (300) pounds. • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus • Minimum two years related mechanic experience/and or training required. EPA 608 & R-12 licenses or ability to obtain licenses. • Carrier Transicold or Thermo King unit experience needed at least one year of reefer/trailer experience. • Great Dane trailer experience a plus; Todco or Whiting roll up door experience a plus; CDL a plus, but not required • Welding experience a plus • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); two years or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
