SUMMARY

Fabricates parts into complete data bus harnesses in accordance with product specifications.  Assembles simple component parts into complete connector units in accordance with product specifications.  Performs duties pertaining to the assembly, test, and inspection of High-Speed cable assemblies. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assembles complete aircraft harnesses from component parts, moving from simple units to more complex assemblies.

• Reads drawings and routers to determine assembly specifications.

• Follows written procedures, work instructions, and reads and interprets assembly drawings.

• Identifies component parts, handles small parts.

• Learns wiring and crimping techniques to fabricate data bus harnesses.

• Maintains an increasing level of high efficiency and quality of workmanship in the assembly process to ensure that production goals are met with minimal waste of time, effort, or materials.

• Records various data from the assembly process for quality traceability.

• Follows router instructions for recording data on quality, locations, and status or rework and scrap.

• Reports production results in an accurate and timely manner, summarizing daily assembly activity including scrap and rework, for evaluation by the department supervisor.

• Interfaces frequently with the Supervisor in identifying and resolving production problems for evaluation and correction. Correct routine problems and identifies complex assembly problems.

• Tracks material usage to anticipate shortages and advises the supervisor of shortages in a timely manner to reduce loss of production time.

• Solders to CIT standards,

• Operates test equipment

• Performs all tasks in a safe and efficient manner to protect one’s self, others, products, materials and other company assets from harm.

• Operates with a high degree of integrity in the performance of duties to foster good working relationships, develop a spirit of teamwork, and accomplish job goals

• Performs any other related tasks, sedentary only, as assigned by supervisor to maintain productivity and contribute to overall efficient operations.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES 

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Mathematical skills:  Basic addition and subtraction skills.  Successfully pass application mathematics examination.

• Ability to track and record assembly results and follow priorities to ensure on-time completion of tasks.

• Must have physical dexterity, previous cable assembly experience such as wire stripping, crimping, and/or soldering desirable. 

• Good vision and eye-hand coordination with respect to very small parts.

• Pass the color vision test

• Equipment Used:  Small hand tools such as tweezers, precision knife, picks, pliers, and cutters.

SOLDERING EXPERIENCE HIGHLY DESIRED

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

• Desk duty only; lifting no greater than 5 pounds.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS

Electrical hazards, possible fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, odors, moveable mechanical parts, un-air conditioned/heated factory, moderate noise level.

 

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

ASTM F–2412–2005, ANSI Z41–1999, or ANSI Z41–1991 rated safety toed shoes and clear ANSI Z87.1 safety rated glasses are required for the job.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High School diploma or equivalent.

 

LANGUAGE/ASSEMBLY SKILLS

• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.

 

TRAVEL

This position doesn’t require travel.

 

 

PAY - $15/HOUR

after certification pay increases to $17/hour
