SUMMARY
Our summer interns will work closely with our Alliant EB team and be involved in different aspects of the client cycle. Interns will work with various roles, from consultants to account managers, providing a broad understanding of the employee benefits field. Our interns will grow with a mentor's help and support and exposure to leadership, department heads, and other interns. Interns will learn how to evaluate issues, develop solutions, and consult on behalf of the client. Interns will also understand the different variables affecting clients in today's market.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists analysts and producers with analytical duties, customer service, and other client processes
- Observes and participates in the renewal process
- Assists analysts with plan design and cost information to the service team
- Interaction with both internal and external executives
- Assists with a client or prospective client to identify and evaluate the client's specific characteristics, including benefit needs, design, group demographics, and employee census; may assist with benchmarking and trend analysis
- Supports the RFP preparation for client renewal or prospective groups
- Collaborates with the client team to select employee benefits markets for solicitation
- Participates in analysis of market proposals for verification of benefits, premiums, and competitiveness
- Produces cost/benefit analysis for inclusion in the proposal to be presented to clients;
- Assists other team members as needed to provide support and resolve issues
- Prioritizes and manages multiple projects simultaneously and follows through on issues in a timely manner
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
Currently enrolled in a college as a junior or senior, majoring in math, insurance / risk management, or other related field of study
Related work experience preferred.
SKILLS REQUIRED
Good verbal and written communication skills
Good customer service skills, including telephone and listening skills
Good problem solving and time management skills
Intermediate typing skills (30-35 wpm)
Ability to work within a team and to foster teamwork
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
