Communications Specialist II - Employee Benefits
SUMMARY
Responsible for researching, writing/creating, designing and executing communication collateral to support account management, sales and marketing efforts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Creates, designs, prints and distributes client communication materials, including benefit brochures, benefit cards, posters, postcards and flyers.
• Maintains a portfolio of personal projects to open a dialogue with teams and current clients in order to understand and address current and future needs.
• Partners with various internal and external contacts to create results oriented communication programs.
• Manages the delivery of the communications program, providing edited copies to Developers.
• Consults clients on best practice communication approach to deliver results and identifies opportunities to improve existing communication pieces.
• Uses understanding of image creation, design layout, type and color, to guide internal teams and clients to desired projects results.
• Creates, designs, prints and distributes internal/Sales communication materials including sales brochures, one pagers, ads and presentations.
• Participates actively in creative brainstorming sessions, leading internal and external conversations.
• Maintains excellent vendor relationships for printing communication materials.
• Prepares and proofs Request for Proposals (RFPs), client packets, case studies and presentations.
• Maintains up-to-date work samples for RFPs.
• Prepares, proofs, prints and binds documents and presentations.
• Maintains supply of brochures, fliers and notebooks for Marketing.
• Assists with event planning and events as needed;
• Complies with agency management system data standards and data integrity (enters and maintains complete and accurate information).
• Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Two (2) or more years of relevant employee benefit-related communications experience within a consulting or corporate environment
Current knowledge of health and welfare benefits
Strong portfolio exhibiting excellent writing skills
SKILLS
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to convert insurance concepts into easy-to-understand explanations for clients and employees
Ability to write technically accurate and engaging benefits content with minimal oversight
Ability to effectively lead projects from conception to completion and meet project deadlines
Ability to identify problems and develop strategic solutions
Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to prioritize to meet very tight turnaround times on multiple projects
Self-motivated with strong work ethic and attitude
Ability to project a professional image in action and appearance with all stakeholders
Proficient in MS Office Suite including PowerPoint
Proficient in Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.)
