JOB SUMMARY:  Lifeguard’s are part of the aquatic team and assist in the daily operations of the water park. Their key job duty is to uphold the standards set forth by Jeff Ellis and Associates and Wilderness at the Smokies.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Oversee guest safety while in water park.
  • Successfully complete lifeguard training class provided by Wilderness.
  • Assist in maintain cleanliness of water park.
  • Attend monthly in-service training.
  • Participate in contributing to guest satisfaction.
  • Requires regular and predictable attendance.
  • All other duties as assigned by management.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to swim 200 yards, retrieve a brick off the bottom of the pool and tread water for 2 minutes with hands above the water. Candidate must also be able to

·         Attend the entire lifeguard training class and successfully complete all written and practical sections

·         Be in good physical condition

·         Be able to manage an emergency situation of the need arises
 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Ability to meeting requirements to obtain Ellis Lifeguard certification/license and maintain it on an on-going basis.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to swim the length of the pool in six (6) feet of water (and in the event of a potential drowning incident, rescue guest and return them to safety), and stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.  The employee is occasionally required to sit.  Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and/or frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to wet and or humid conditions; outside weather conditions and extreme heat.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
