The People Concern is one of Los Angeles County’s largest non-profit housing and social service agencies. We provide integrated services to people who experience homelessness and domestic violence, through housing and a continuum of care tailored to the unique needs of the individual. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Serve as ambassador to corporate, faith-based, education and other community groups to recruit, coordinate and engage them in volunteer service activities.
• Seek out and attend community fairs, gatherings and networking events to promote The People Concern both for volunteer recruitment and event participation (guests, sponsors, venues) which may include weekend and evening work
• Lead “Lunch and Learn” sessions for Community and Corporate partners with the goal of deepening the relationships and moving organizations through the pipeline as well as identifying possible partners for thought-leadership, sponsorship and other events
• Coordinate, attend and support corporate and group meal services, and, with Database Manager, qualify corporate groups for movement up the gift ladder, including systematizing the assessment of volunteers through iWave or similar tool and tracking relationships in Raiser’s Edge (adding corporate prospects for example)
• Cultivate and deepen partnerships for The People Concern to move their support to donor status
• Share info and photos of volunteer engagement and activities with Marketing & Communications Coordinator as appropriate; help identify cross-promotional opportunities
• Facilitate/Coordinate Corporate in-kind giving start to finish
• Assist as needed with Special Events
• Co-Lead orientation for all new individual volunteers and group leader volunteers up to 2x a month
• In concert with CCRM, update orientation material as needed
• Plan for and recruit (from database) individual volunteers to assist development team with distribution of mail pieces year round, and all agency events where needed (ex. annual gala)
• Maintain shared calendar entries and bookings relating to on-site staff where appropriate
• With Community and Corporate Relationships Coordinator – Individual Volunteers (CCRC-IV) and Events and Engagement Coordinator (EEC), ongoing data entry for both Raisers Edge and Volgistics databases
• Update shared Agency statistics tracking information monthly
• Continuously review/update Volgtistics Group applications and Group contacts database for cultivation and stewardship
• Continuous review of in-kind tracking spreadsheets and outreach to them for cultivation of new relationships
• Work with Annual Fund and Database Manager to pull information weekly from Volgistics to upload into Raisers Edge
• Meet with Community and Corporate Relationships Manager to discuss opportunities to move volunteers and volunteer groups up the pipeline
• Partner with CCRC-IV for volunteer appreciation and holiday volunteer events
• Back up for CCRC-IV on their off days (Friday, Saturday)
• Keep regular hours Tuesday through Saturday
• Other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
Experience using Raiser’s Edge and Volgistics
Experience collaborating with a broad‐range of stakeholders to complete projects
QUALIFICATIONS
• An enthusiasm for the cause of solving homelessness, and an interest in philanthropy at the grass roots level.
• Customer service orientation and resiliency in dealing with the general public.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in project organization and management, volunteer relations or similar position
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including regular weekend hours and some evenings for special events and meetings as requested.
• Manage multiple projects concurrently and work effectively across teams
• Detail-oriented with strong time management, organizational, written, verbal, interpersonal, and computer skills
• Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of professionalism, both independently and collaboratively
• A passion for connecting philanthropists with high impact opportunities to help the most vulnerable in their communities
• Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel programs
• Valid CA Driver’s license, reliable car, auto insurance, and an acceptable driving record to Travel between agency locations as work requires
WORK ENVIRONMENT
1. Combination of field and office environment; occasional weeknights and weekends required
2. Regularly required to sit, stand, bend; occasionally lift or carry up to 35 lbs.
3. Will frequently walk or drive to different local sites
4. Will necessitate working in busy and loud environments
5. Will be exposed to elements like cold, heat, dust, noise and/or need to bend, stoop, twist, and sit throughout the day
