Electrical Engineer I

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for performing engineering analysis to define electrical design and testing requirements, review and test prototypes, and help design and develop world class products. In addition, this position is responsible for providing technical support to the marketing, sales, and product management teams to create detailed proposals.
- Prepare product documentation including, but not limited to, test plans, test reports, theory of operations, specifications and inspection criteria as directed.
- Prepare recommended printed circuit board (PCB) layout, component placement, bills of material, and cost estimates for completing the proposed project.
- Perform rechargeable battery tests including capacity, temperature, and safety cutoffs.
- Perform benchmark evaluation of competitive or proposed new products as well as ongoing product improvements utilizing proposed processes or material changes.
- Present progress and findings at several design reviews throughout the development process.
- Provide technical support to marketing, sales, and product management teams to create detailed proposals.
- Participate as directed in resolving engineering design, product quality and testing issues.
- Design, prototype and test product components, sub‐systems, and fixturing applying principles and techniques of electrical, mechanical, and/or industrial engineering as directed.
- Write technical reports as directed to document engineering analysis and findings.
- Prioritize work to align with the goals of the department and various project teams.
- Review personal progress within projects on a consistent basis and work to maintain timelines.
- Seek out and demand accurate inputs and produce only quality work product for downstream customers.
- Maintain close contact with associated engineering groups and project teams.
- Work to minimize any design detail that may cause extra steps and add cost in the manufacturing process.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering. Solid knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals and principles with good general understanding of practical circuit design and sample testing evaluation methods is required. Experience with small rechargeable batteries (18650, Li-Po pouch, etc.) preferred and small rechargeable battery charging methodologies and designs a plus. Exposure to schematic capture applications and embedded firmware for microprocessors a plus. Familiarity with spreadsheets, databases, analysis and design software a plus. Must have strong technical and analytical skills. Must have time management, planning and organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint). Demonstrated oral and written communication within a team environment. Capable of facilitating projects and solutions. Ability to adapt and function in an environment of changing priorities often under tight time constraints. Occasional domestic and international travel may be required.

Occasionally required to stand, walk or sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
