The Production Planner is responsible for the management of manufacturing value streams in the areas of material flow, scheduling, planning, inventory accuracy and inventory management and control.  This position is responsible for ensuring that the plant achieves all delivery and inventory turns goals.  This position is responsible for capacity planning and communication of any capacity concerns short or long-term.
 
Specific Responsibilities:
 

1. Scheduling and planning of multiple production lines.  Manage performance using several metrics such as, “schedule attainment” and “volume attainment”.
 
2. Identify all bottlenecks that negatively impact product flow within the value stream.  Manage these bottlenecks with the area supervisors and develop solutions to the bottlenecks. 
 
3. Actively monitor the production line’s capacity and communicate all short term and long-term concerns. 

4. Support the plant’s ability to maintain delivery goals such as, “line fill”, “big box store fill rates”, “E-commerce fill rates”.
 
5. Develop and manage “level loaded plans” for our key work centers such that customer delivery and manufacturing efficiency are both considered and optimized.
 
6. Work with the area manufacturing supervisor to achieve the plant’s inventory accuracy goals.

7. Maintain all required fields and screens of our ERP system.
 
8. Maintain a constructive relationship with the Buyers, Engineering, Finance, Quality, SIOP, and Manufacturing in support of the Business' strategic goals.
 
9. Work closely with Corporate Commodity Managers and Plant Buyers to better leverage and implement VMI and Kanban programs.
 
10. Participate in continuous improvement activity throughout the value streams within the plant to improve plant profitability.
 
11. Assist in cycle counting internally and with Suppliers when required.
 
12. Assist in the development and documentation of standard work.
 
13. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics or Engineering discipline and three (3) years related work experience.
  • APICS Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) preferred. Must possess knowledge in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in operations, inventory management, MRP and lean manufacturing processes, and with visual management systems is preferred.

 

Physical Demand Requirement:

Occasionally required to stand, walk or sit; use hands to grasp, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; use fingers to touch, pick or pinch objects; reach with hands and arms; push or pull; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; use foot or leg controls; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. For all jobs no one should lift over 50lbs on their own. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
