Job Summary:

Manages the delivery of direct client services provided by Case Aide staff; provides direction and oversight of Case Aide functions through the supervision of the Shift Coordinators; provides support to the Women and Family Services Manager in the supervision of the day-to-day program operations; maintains appropriate records in addition to ongoing written and verbal communication with clinical and other professional staff in relationship to daily client activities; performs crisis intervention counseling when needed; works with individuals and groups to develop life management skills; facilitates an emotional and physical environment conducive to enhancing positive client morale and stabilization; reports pertinent information to the Women and Family Services Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities (50%)

 

Supervises assigned program staff; oversees staff training program and instructs employees in the proper methods and procedures for conducting work; schedules and monitors work in process and upon completion for compliance with established program policies and procedures; conducts performance evaluations and provides input to Women and Family Services Manager on makes hiring/firing recommendations.

 

Oversees development and implementation of Case Aide schedules ensuring appropriate staff to client ratios. 

 

Ensures staff deliver trauma competent services in a manner that reflects The Salvation Army’s mission and core values. 

 

Meets with staff, clients and other managers; listens to their concerns, complaints and recommendations; maintains awareness of previous day’s events to ensure that procedures are carried out daily and in a timely fashion.

 

Conducts new hire training and ongoing training as needed for Case Aide staff to ensure compliance with contract and program guidelines.

 

Monitoring Responsibilities (30%)

 

Through the supervision of Case Aide Shift Coordinators, monitors daily activities of staff and clients; ensures the cleanliness, safety and orderliness of program environment; observes both staff and clients for safety, health and risk potentials.

 

Communicates with members of the clients’ treatment team as may be requested for purposes of providing additional client information; communicates all major incidents to the Case Management Specialist and Women and Family Services Manager in writing and orally; facilitates ongoing information exchange.

 

Responds to emergencies in a calm manner and initiates appropriate corrective actions in accordance with established policies and procedures; provides necessary crisis intervention; ensures 24-hour monitoring of clients; informs assigned Case Management Specialist or Women and Family Services Manager of special problems, needs, etc.

 

Works with individuals and groups as needed to enhance social skills and the ability to enjoy and function within a group living situation.

 

Through the supervision of the Case Aide Shift Coordinators, inspects program area daily; provides individual instruction or correction to clients regarding proper use of the facility as needed; reports damage or other maintenance needs to Women and Family Services Manager.

 

Administrative Responsibilities (20%)

 

Completes required paperwork representing client intake for the day; inputs data into HMIS in order to maintain computer records and generate client lists;.

 

Ensures inventory procedures are followed to maintain proper stock of linens, hygiene products, medical, furnishings, office supplies, technical and clinical program forms and diagnostic Breathalyzer and urinalysis supplies.

 

Maintains client and program records daily; submits required reports and statistics; prepares written incident reports.

 

Maintains the integrity, orderliness and cleanliness of the medication rooms.

 

Distributes written communication and documentation to program staff.

 

Performs data entry and light typing as required.

 

Other Responsibilities:

Relieves the Women and Family Services Manager of administrative detail and provides assistance with special projects or training of staff as needed.

 

Participates in required continuing educational programs.

 

Provides Case Aide coverage as needed.

 

Maintains inventory of office, cleaning, and other necessary supplies; requisitions supplies through Women and Family Services Manager as needed.

 

Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of basic recordkeeping practices and procedures.

 

Knowledge of individual and group counseling as well as crisis intervention techniques.

 

Ability to communicate effectively with clients in order to control, lead, and motivate behavior.

 

Ability to maintain the security and confidentiality of client records.

 

Ability to work independently and with limited supervision while enforcing established policies and procedures.

 

Ability to serve as a role model with physical and emotional health adequate to meet the demands of the position.

 

Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Education and Experience:

 

Associate’s Degree in the behavioral sciences or related field

and

Two years’ experience performing social service work, with one year in a supervisory capacity preferred

 

Certifications:

Valid State Driver’s License

CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain within established timeframe)

 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively.

Ability to respond to emergency situations quickly and calmly while maintaining control and initiating the proper corrective action.

Ability to drive a vehicle safely and in accordance with all laws and regulations.

Ability and willingness to conduct all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism.

Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.

Duties are usually performed seated.  Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.

Working Conditions:

Work is usually performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
