Thrift Store Clerk - FT - Okmulgee Thrift Store

The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, is looking for a Store Clerk for our Thrift Store located in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.

Job Summary:

Assists store customers in donating, selecting, and purchasing store items; operates and maintains a cash register; responds to customer’s questions; maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of the store displays; ensures the security of store items and the cash register. Ensures that all donated items are processed through the warehouse in a timely manner and in accordance with established standards; ensures the thrift store remains adequately stocked. Reports to Assistant Thrift Store Manager in the absence of the Thrift Store Manager I.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of effective customer service techniques.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of basic mathematics.

Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.

Ability to operate a cash register.

Ability to perform routine mathematical computations and count change.

Education and Experience:

HS diploma or GED AND experience working in a retail store preferred, OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certifications:

None

Physical Requirements: 

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

· Ability to perform frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting.

· Physical ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull light objects (less than 25 lbs.)

· Moderate mobility: duties are usually performed by combination of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis. Distance of travel is usually within the same building.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a normal store environment where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like.
