Christmas Volunteer Coordinator
Location: The Salvation Army Macon
About this opportunity:
Recruits, trains, coordinates and monitors the work of employees and/or volunteer ensuring ample staff to meet Christmas program needs; coordinates The Salvation Army Angel Tree program; prepares records and reports for Christmas programs.
Key responsibilities:
- Interviews, recruits, screens and selection of volunteer staff ensuring staff is maintained to meet Christmas program needs.
- Plans, schedules, and assigns work of Christmas volunteers; instructs volunteers in proper methods and procedures; checks and approves work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy and completeness as well as compliance with The Salvation Army policies and procedures; conducts written evaluations of volunteer performance.
- Maintains contact with volunteers throughout their service; answers volunteer questions, concerns or problems.
- Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and databases of volunteer information; prepares reports for the Christmas program, providing documentation of volunteer hours worked.
- Plans and coordinates a Christmas luncheon for volunteers and employees, preparing plaques and/or certificates of recognition.
- Speaks to community groups and organizations to inform, educate and orient the community about The Salvation Army Christmas Programs, services and volunteer needs to encourage contribution of time, resources and /or money.
- Manages the Angel Tree Program; recruits, trains, coordinates the work of volunteers ensuring ample staff to meet Christmas program needs; prepares records and reports for the Christmas program.
What are we looking for in you:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Relations or a related field
- One Year experience recruiting people to perform work on a volunteer basis preferred
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Valid State Driver’s License
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements; ability to read, write and communicate the English language. Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.
