Position Type: Regular       

Pay Range: $19.45 - $29.18         

About this opportunity:

Under the general direction of the Health & Wellness Manager, the Sports and Recreation Coordinator plans, develops, and oversees the activities of sports and recreation programs as well as the supervision of sports and recreation program staff, ensuring that the mission of The Salvation Army is a top priority in all areas and activities.  Performs any necessary administrative duties. Ensures that the program operations are in compliance with established departmental policies and procedures. Performs maintenance of all recreation equipment.  Duties will also include working closely with the Health & Wellness Manager to develop sports and recreation programming for the Kroc Center based upon ongoing needs assessment, business plan and member needs. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Plans, develops, and oversees the activities of the sports and recreation programs keeping The Kroc Center mission central to the whole of the programming, providing a safe, Christ-centered environment.  Ensures that programs provide offerings for every age demographic. 
  • Develops and maintains partnerships and communication with other Sports and Recreation programs in the community. Coordinates relationships between the leaders of those programs and the Kroc Center.
  • Coordinates the development of and participation in leagues, tournaments and other sports and recreation events, including both Kroc Center and community developed programs. 
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the recreation program and its facilities including the daily, monthly, and yearly maintenance of the facility. 
  • Ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a positive, professional manner in conformity with The Salvation Army Mission Statement.  Must be able to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.

  • Ability to administer a budget and monitor expenditures for compliance with the same.  
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an environment where there may be little physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like due to working in a Gymnasium or outdoors.
