Title:  DEI Coordinator
Report to: Chief DEI  Officer
Location:  Arlington Administration, 2116 Arlington Ave., Suite 100, Los Angeles, CA 90018 
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm or 8:30 am - 5pm
Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt (hourly), Non-Management

POSITION BACKGROUND

The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) Department is a staff-facing department at The People Concern, dedicated to fostering a culture of connection, belonging, and empowerment for staff and program participants. As a social justice organization, we are committed to:

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Officer, and in collaboration with the Engagement and Learning Departments, the DEI Coordinator supports the agency’s growth in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. With creativity and passion for culture change, this role provides administrative and implementation support for all DEI initiatives and emphasizes personal and professional growth and access while promoting and nurturing the expansion and sustainability of TPC’s culture of connection, collaboration, engagement, and continuous learning.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the guidance and supervision of the Chief DEI Officer, the DEI Coordinator:
- Represents the DEI Department and its values in all internal spaces;
- Provides administrative support to Chief DEI Officer, DEI Ambassadors and Standing in Solidarity groups;
- Manages tech for DEI monthly and other related meetings;
- Schedules, plans, implements all aspects of site visits including venue procurement, transportation of supplies and equipment, set up/break down of training spaces;
- Supports in the translation of DEI communications into Spanish;
- Works closely with Employee Engagement and Learning Departments on the DEI aspects of multiple on-going and one time projects, departmental initiatives, and activities supporting furthering of communication leading to greater accessibility, participation, and equity within staff opportunities;
- Facilitates the DEI session in New Employee Orientation (NEO) when the DEI officer is not available;
- Works in close collaboration with the Learning Department in support of organizational training in the area of DEI (eg. NEO, PLA, PLO, PCU);
- Maintains and helps produce records, reports, instructional manuals, reference materials, etc., pertinent to DEI opportunities and completes updates of the robust calendar of annual and monthly DEI Observances & Celebrations;
- Manages the DEI presence on internal communications platforms: SharePoint, Viva Engage, and print materials;
- Provides comprehensive support in the roll out of the Annual DEI survey including working with vendors such as WorkTango in updating of the annual DEI survey contents, schedule, and making all necessary arrangements for full participation of our monolingual Spanish speaking employees;
- Works in collaboration with Engagement Department in event planning coordination, coverage, and implementation of large org-wide events throughout the year such as PPLCoCon, bi-annual internal conference, Holiday Contests and staff appreciation events and Standing In Solidarity groups (such as Juneteenth, etc.) to maximize engagement;
- Consults and collaborates with teams and leaders such as CAB Taskforce Workgroup, External Communications Department, and Public Policy and Advocacy efforts to assist with furthering Employees involvement in and visibility of DEI efforts agency-wide;
- Supports and takes lead on various other projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required;
- Self-motivated and able to successfully work in a fast-paced environment;
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively with a wide range of people, teams and vendors;
- Ability to think critically about problems and be creative in finding solutions;
- Strong communication skills - including writing, editing, and speaking;
- Advanced organization, planning, collaboration and implementation skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments at once;
- Comfortability facilitating small groups in-person and on-line;
- Detail-oriented with excellent time management and communication skills;
- Strong Computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, TEAMS, ZOOM, etc;
- Demonstrates an ability to use new technology and media equipment (computers, projectors,etc.) to enhance the employee learning experience;
- Valid CA Driver’s license, reliable car, auto insurance, and an acceptable driving record.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Client-serving experience preferred;
- Bilingual Spanish written and speaking skills preferred;
- Basic graphic design skills helpful.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Primarily indoor office environment
- Regularly required to sit, stand, bend and occasionally lift or carry up to 15 pounds
- May necessitate working in busy and loud environments
- May be exposed to elements like cold, heat, dust, noise, and odor
- May need to bend, stoop, twist, and sit throughout the day
- At times will include driving, set up, and take down at sites and venues
