This is a Full Time Temporary position with an anticipated duration of 6 months. 

BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for organizing and maintaining an efficient nursing station, providing supplies, forms and information necessary for nurses, physicians and consultants to do their duties. Monitors access to medical records in order to ensure confidentiality. Performs reception duties and assists in data input and transmission of reporting materials to State and Federal agencies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as receptionist at nurse’s station. Answers telephones, directs calls to appropriate person, and/or communicates messages to staff and/or Resident.
  • Assists Nurse Manager with Daily Staffing and CNA assignments.
  • Audits medical records and medication administration records as scheduled by the Nurse Manager. Provides copies of audits to Nurse Manager. Audits all Medication Rooms under the direction of the Nurse Manager.
  • Orients new Medication Technicians.
  • Monitors doctor's visits for the week and prepares appropriate paperwork.
  • When requested, assists in making staffing calls.
  • Completes and coordinates maintenance work orders for repair of equipment.
  • Manages nursing supply orders and inventory. Stocks and maintains all nursing supply closets.
  • Observes proper infection control procedures, assists in maintaining the safety of Residents.
  • Follows Resident Rights regulations and policies. Observes all facility safety policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by nursing supervision, Nurse Manager, Administrator, COO or CEO.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be interested in and have compassion for the elderly. Must possess good communication skills, both verbal and written and be fluent in the English language. Needs to have organizational skills sufficient to allow for meeting deadlines and goals in a dynamic environment. CNA certification is preferred. Must be computer literate sufficient to perform all tasks required of the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) System.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school graduate. Must have knowledge of medical terminology and an understanding of medical office procedures. Must have strong computer skills and be proficient with both word-processing and spreadsheet applications software
