The Controller contributes to our mission by ensuring that our financial operations support our community-based programs and services. This role enables LCSNW to deliver on our commitment to strengthen individuals and families, ensure service quality, and maintain financial accountability to all stakeholders

RESPONSIBILITIES:

● Prepare and present timely financial statements and monthly/quarterly reports for the Board and leadership team, ensuring accuracy and alignment with GAAP

● Track and report on restricted grant funds, ensuring compliance with donor restrictions and regulatory requirements; provide financial oversight for program expenses and funding

● Coordinate annual audits, ensure timely tax filings, and oversee compliance with nonprofit regulations, internal policies, and external standards

● Develop and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and ensure accurate financial records; identify financial risks and propose mitigation strategies, including insurance management.

● Oversee accounts payable and receivable, and payroll, ensuring timely and accurate processing in compliance with relevant laws and policies

● Supervise and develop the accounting team, ensuring appropriate training, performance evaluations, and professional growth; provide support for affiliate financial operations

● Work with department heads, program managers, and the executive team to provide financial insights, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and financial sustainability

● Oversee accounting systems, ensuring that records are accurate, secure, and integrated with other operational systems

● Assist in the management of finance operations of the affiliate agency, including shared expense allocation, ensuring compliance with financial policies, and coordinating reporting between the affiliate and the LCSNW

 

Role(s): Role-specific expectations for this job are outlined as follows.

● Team Member. ● Senior Leader. In support of creating and maintaining an Employer of Choice culture, active demonstration and encouragement of LCSNW leadership competencies is critical to this job. As a senior leader, this job is more broadly responsible for ensuring the overall success of an entire district, department or function.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

● 2 years Controller level experience in a non-profit environment, including expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and grant management, as well as familiarity with fund accounting, restricted/unrestricted funding, and FASB regulations; proven leadership in managing finance teams, extensive experience with accounting software, involvement in external audits and IRS Form 990 preparation, and a strong background in cash flow management, financial planning, risk management, and internal controls

● Bachelor’s in accounting, finance, business administration or related field

● Fluency in English, both spoken and written

● Intermediate mastery of business applications and productivity suites

● Demonstrates resilience, awareness and self-regulation in navigating challenges, conflict and obstacles/barriers.

● Diplomacy and conflict management skills

● Thrives in a diverse and multicultural environment; works with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies to enhance end-user experiences throughout the service lifecycle

● Demonstrates exceptional commitment to serving and advocating for diverse and marginalized populations

● Successfully completes tasks in a low noise environment

● Interacts with others and performs tasks in-person and through the use of technology, with long periods of stationary activity and minimal periods of increased physical activity including and not limited to sitting, standing and walking

● Moves equipment/materials weighing up to 25 pounds

● Travels between worksites regularly 

● Works in a variety of settings, including and not limited to LCSNW office locations, partner agency and community-based settings, and faith-based settings such as churches

● Meets LCSNW criminal background clearance requirements and other job-relevant clearances as required by the State or program
