Support Group Coordinator (Multilingual)

THE ROLE: This position as Community Outreach / Support Group Coordinator for Afghan Men plays a vital role in fostering connection and support within the Afghan community by implementing and coordinating adjustment support groups for men. This position aims to empower individuals, strengthen family and community dynamics, reduce feelings of social isolation, and promote greater community integration among participants.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate adjustment support groups for Afghan men, adapting curriculum to meet client needs.
- Identify and refer participants for case management, mental health, and other support.
- Ensure accurate documentation, including pre/post surveys, sign-ins, progress notes, and client information.
- Address client barriers (e.g., arranging interpreters or transportation) to support group participation.
- Coordinate with community partners for guest speakers and refer participants with urgent needs to external culturally appropriate services.
- Collaborate with internal programs, mental health clinicians, and community networks for family support.
- Adhere to program requirements, including record-keeping, compliance, and maintaining a supportive, culturally aware environment.
- Model and encourage direct, professional communication among staff members and facilitate the development of a positive staff support network.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to read, write, and speak in English and Dari or Pashto
- Lived experience that enhances relatability to clients being served
- General experience with Google Suite and Microsoft 365.
- Demonstrates resilience, awareness and self-regulation in navigating challenges, conflict and obstacles/barriers.
- Thrives in a diverse and multicultural environment; works with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies to enhance end-user experiences throughout the service lifecycle
- Moves equipment/materials weighing up to 20 pounds
- Travels between worksites and to client wellness events
- Works in a variety of settings, including and not limited to LCSNW office locations, partner agency and community-based settings, client home/community settings, outdoor settings in varying weather conditions, and faith-based settings such as churches
- Abides by humanitarian principles and organizational code of conduct
- Meets LCSNW criminal background clearance requirements and other job-relevant clearances as required by the State or program
