The Manufacturing Operations Development Program is a selective and accelerated program designed to develop and prepare individuals for a successful career in manufacturing leadership. Throughout this program, individuals will progressively take on responsibilities and gain hands-on experience in various functions while reporting to one manager. Employees will acquire, refine, and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to effectively lead a team while continuously improving Operations.Upon completion of the program, individuals may be placed into a manufacturing leadership position or something of similar caliber.
Specific Responsibilities
1.Provide manufacturing engineering support, direction, and follow up in the areas of:
a.machine availability/performance/Quality (OEE)
b.development of inspection sheets
c.work instruction or process sheet development and execution
d.Cost per unit or cost per earned hour improvement
e.development of new tooling and fixturing
f.general project management to support any of the above initiatives
2.Ensure that processes are executing a CP/Cpk levels of 1.33 or above by partnering with the Quality group to identify areas of concern, determine root causes, and implement short term-intermediate-permanent corrective and preventative actions.
3.Utilize problem‐solving skills (PDCA, A3, fishbone, etc.) to analyze manufacturing difficulties to determine root cause and define corrective and preventative actions in support of on‐going operational activities.
4.Continuously monitor and maintain appropriate capacity levels of all critical machine assets.Effectively communicate to management actions that need to be taken as a result.
5.Have a working knowledge of all manufacturing execution systems (MES) required to effectively support the operations team.Obtain complete list from your direct supervisor.
6.Support the timely delivery of products within the cost and quality specifications through effective use of production activities.
7.Be prepared to coordinate work group activities, schedule work, assign machines to meet manufacturing schedules, increase overall equipment effectiveness, achieve takt time (required pace of product to meet demand), and reduce lead time.
8.Continuous improvement activity:Analyze and review operating methods procedures on a continuous basis to develop and implement improvement strategies. Include your team in the improvement process to improve their technical and managerial skills. Maintain visual scheduling methodologies to drive collaboration in problem solving.
9.Review regular production reports and follows up with the appropriate supervision regarding any productivity, scheduling, labor, material, equipment, processing issues to ensure maximum utilization of resources and on‐time delivery.
10.Responsible for coaching, mentoring, teaching, and working with manufacturing engineering teams and assembly in the delivery of all current and new product introductions.
11.Effectively present and communicate with all levels of leadership within the organization.
12.Ability to create meaningful relationships with support functions (Purchasing, Quality, Engineering, APQP, Product Group,etc.) to effectively succeed as a team.
13.Work safely to prevent on‐the‐job injuries by following Company and OSHA safety rules and regulations, understanding machine safeguards, recognizing, and reporting safety hazards, wearing required PPE.
14.Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualification Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree (4 Year) in Engineering or a related field
Must possess basic knowledge of tooling design methods and machine tool programming.
Ability to use Microsoft Office and CAD software.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written.
Ability to communicate and work as a team member.
Physical Demand Requirements
Occasionally required to stand, walk or sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
