As a Packaging Designer at Klein Tools, you will be responsible for creating visually compelling, highly functional and effective product packaging designs with benefit-driven communications that elevate and distinguish our products against competitors. Collaborating closely with product, marketing, engineering and other cross-functional stakeholders, you will take a range of inputs and apply your design skills and brand guidelines guidance to create solutions that communicate what makes our products unique in a clear, concise and effective layout.

- Create innovative, high-quality packaging concepts for new and existing products, ensuring designs meet the specific needs of product categories, align with brand standards and deliver on consumer needs.
- Design packaging that not only looks great and enhances product quality perception, but also improves the consumer purchasing experience by quickly focusing consumer attention on unique product features and benefits.
- Work closely with cross-functional Product, Marketing and Engineering teams to ensure seamless communication and collaboration throughout the design and development process, anticipating challenges and proactively recommending solutions to keep projects on track.
- Manage multiple packaging projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery, meeting production schedules, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and consistency, even when deadlines and priorities change frequently.
- Deliver mockups of product displays for retail environments to help visualize and optimize merchandising presence, ensuring product packaging performs and is aligned with brand standards as intended prior to production.
- Sweat the details – build and leverage knowledge of legal and compliance requirements, carefully following protocols and review/approval processes to deliver final assets ready for handoff to production.
- Organize and upload artwork files to a centralized file management system, ensuring accuracy and proper approvals for all design elements, streamlining workflow and minimizing errors.
- Stay current with packaging trends, materials and technologies, conducting periodic market and competitor research to suggest new design solutions to keep Klein Tools’ packaging elevated over other brands.
Job Qualifications
Skills For Success
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
- Passion for packaging design and an understanding of how great packaging enhances the consumer experience
- Strong eye for design, color, typography, and layout, with an exceptional ability to translate briefed concepts into visually appealing and functional packaging
- Knowledge of materials and packaging production process, reviewing proofs, color matching and press checks
- Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and attention to detail
- Creative problem-solving skills to find solutions to packaging challenges, whether technical, aesthetic, or logistical
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively across diverse teams
Education Requirements
- Associates Degree in Art/Design, Graphic Design, Packaging Design, or a related field
Experience
- 3-5 years of professional experience in consumer goods packaging design
