Director of Supply Chain

Job Summary:  Provides leadership, direction and oversight for the division's long term planning, forecasting, procurement, inventory control and supplier management functions.

 

Essential Job Duties:

  • Develop and execute a world-class sourcing, supplier management and materials management strategy in support of the Division's business objectives.
  • Enforce and operate to the procedures and metrics detailed in the Supply Chain Control Plan
  • Improve and oversee all procurement activities include: supplier identification; purchase order approval for parts, materials and services and direct supervision of departmental employees in a matrix environment.
  • Develop, publish and manage a supplier selection & development process containing strategies that deliver competitive-edge supplier performance in terms of quality, delivery, cost and service. Oversee the criteria for determining if suppliers should be classified as "key" to the Company's operations.
  • In conjunction with the Supplier Quality department, manage the Approved Supplier List.
  • Actively manage supplier performance to ensure that sourcing objectives are met. Utilize supplier production readiness assessments and supplier scorecards containing key performance metrics. Measure and manage supply chain risk.
  • Negotiate resolution with suppliers relative to quality and delivery issues. Provide feedback to senior level representatives of suppliers on quality and delivery performance to assure continuous improvement in those areas.
  • Support new strategic initiatives by developing business plans, implementation plans and supporting analysis.
  • Set department objectives, assign projects and evaluate work for content and conformity with FAA, customer and Company requirements.
  • Focus departmental personnel in continuous improvement of products, processes, and cost reduction activities in order to meet productivity and performance targets.
  • Prepare and implement operating and capital budgets.
  • Comply with all Company policies, procedures and business practices.
  • Enforce the facility safety and housekeeping practices.
  • Support and enforce Company policies and procedures

 

Secondary Duties:

Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in business administration or operations management. Two-year degree or four-year degree in another field with equivalent related work experience may be substituted.
  • Fifteen (15) years minimum industry experience, ten (10) of which within a procurement, planning, program management or operations function.
  • Five (5) years experience in a management, supervision or lead role.
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of supply chain management, procurement, and contract administration.
  • Must be able to work with people - with sound teamwork, organization, project management, interpersonal abilities. Must be a leader and have the ability to organize, motivate and manage people.
  • Must be a self-starter, highly motivated, capable of operating effectively with a minimum of direction, and be able to work effectively under pressure with significant interaction within all levels in the organization.
  • Must have experience working in a multi-functional, matrix organization.
  • Must possess knowledge of FM certification & regulations, and quality systems for manufacturing operations.
  • Must be computer literate, fluent with Microsoft Office and proficient with ERP/MRP systems

Preferred:

  • Proficiency in ERP computer systems - specifically EPICOR software.
  • Undergraduate degree in supply chain management. MBA or MA in Management also preferred.
  • LEAN Manufacturing/Six Sigma Training

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel both domestically and internationally (10-20%).
  • Must be able to sit and work efficiently at video display terminals for extended periods of time
  • Must have excellent professional, communication, negotiation, teamwork, organization, project management, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Must and be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
  • Normal or corrected hearing and vision required
  • Normal duties involve filing as well as typical office duties that involve stretching, reaching, and stooping with lifting typically limited to 10-20 lbs.
