Program Coordinator-Health and Wellness
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Responsible for facilitating and coordinating healthy living initiatives. Outline program protocol, recruit program participants, meet Y Members both individually and in groups and track program data. Daily work will require both on-site and offsite program coordination, meeting with professionals throughout the community to explain our program initiatives
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supports and works collaboratively with Health Enhancement Director to successfully design and launch new health living programming and protocol.
- Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members and program participants connect with each other and the YMCA.
- Continuously recruit new program participants ensuring program growth and sustainability.
- Asks and answers questions from program participants and members to support them in achieving their goals related to health and well-being and successful completion of all program protocols.
- Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
- Instruct classes, both on-site and offsite, which support healthy living initiatives of the branch.
- Assist in the scheduling of one on one appointments and/or group activities for our members and program participants.
- Observes and adjusts approach to support all participants’ capabilities, physical conditions, health, and culture.
- Celebrates achievement of program participants related to program or personal goals, mastering of specific skills or overall health and well-being.
- Maintains accurate and complete records of all program participants.
- Support and work special events and activities for our members and for the community at large.
- Order equipment and/or supplies as needed, to properly maintain all wellness programs and services.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations. Attends staff meetings and trainings as required
- Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Required certifications: CPR, First Aid, AED, national certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM, MOSSA) in group fitness instruction or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification.
- Certification in areas of expertise.
- YMCA Healthy Lifestyles certification within 60 days of hire.
- At least four (4) years of experience teaching one-on-one and group wellness classes and education in health-related field.
- Proven track record of coordinating on-site and offsite programs.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Computer proficiency.
- Ability to build relationships to support membership growth.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations.
