General Function
The Fitness Experience Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of high quality wellness programs that are designed to meet the needs of the community. They will work with branch management to ensure coordinated programs and schedules meet the needs of youth, teens & adults.
Education/Experience/Training/Certifications
- A high school degree or its equivalent is required. An Associate degree in exercise science, community health or equivalent is preferred.
- One national certification (ACSM, ACE, AFAA, CES, ISSA, NASM, NESTA, NETA, NSCA, WITS, or Crossfit) or YMCA Group Exercise or Strength and Conditioning certification is preferred.
- Must have knowledge of physical fitness, kinesiology and physiology as it relates to strength training and overall health and wellness.
- Experience in curriculum and program planning, implementation and evaluation.
- Certification in CPR, First Aid and AED is required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides direct leadership and supervision to branch wellness initiative programs including member onboarding, wellness seminars, chronic disease prevention programs, and providing a positive member experience
- Helps identify, schedule, and manage all Wellness Department to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
- Assists the Associate Executive Director with hiring and training of part-time employees as needed to support the Wellness Department.
- Determines and provides relevant community and/or healthcare resources that help support branch wellness initiatives.

- Ability to hear and observe distress signals in the water and anywhere in zone of responsibility
- Skills to meet strength and lifting requirements
