Rock Wall Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the guidance of the Fitness Experience Director, the Rock Wall Specialist interacts with new and existing members to guide them in climbing the rock wall and creates a welcoming rock wall experience for all members of all backgrounds and abilities. They instruct members on use of equipment through orientations, assists with member questions and concerns, and provides excellent member service. They also are responsible for leading the daily operation and maintenance of the rock wall. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Monitor all areas of the rockwall and ensure safety of all members
Seek to learn members’ names and welcome them personally
Demonstrate and assist members with belaying and harnesses
Stay current with advances within the rock climbing profession
Assure work area and equipment are kept clean throughout the day but sanitizing frequently, particularly before and after member use

Education of members in rock climbing related areas.
QUALIFICATIONS:
CPR/AED certifications must be current.
- Must have technical skills in the operations and use of a variety of fitness equipment.
