YMCA Buffalo Niagara is hiring for several open positions at our School Age Child Care Program sites located within YMCA facilities and at elementary schools throughout Western NY.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Plans and implements the program curriculum and provides direction to staff at School Age Child Care (SACC) program sites. Serves as Day Camp director during the summer and facilitates the Early Learning Readiness program. Provides a quality experience and a safe environment for children and their parents.  Positions are available in Lancaster, Orchard Park, and Clarence.

 

GENERAL WORK SCHEDULE:

40 hours per week.  Must be available to work between the hours of 7:00 am – 6:00 pm, Monday – Friday.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Serves as “site director” on the OCFS SACC license for the assigned program sites.
  2. Implements and maintains policies, rules, regulations, and standards as required by the NYS Office of Child and Family Services, school administration, and YMCA Buffalo Niagara.
  3. Plans and implements weekly lesson plans. Follows all YMCA program standards.
  4. Facilitates the Early Learning Readiness program at assigned locations.
  5. Provides leadership and direction to staff. Enforces policies and procedures.
  6. Develops and publishes the staff schedule. Fills in for absences.
  7. Supervises the children, the program area, and all activities.
  8. Follows and enforces department protocol to clean and disinfect commonly used surfaces. Maintains the cleanliness and organization of program/work areas. Ensures PPE compliance.
  9. Provides a safe environment for all activities. Enforces safety rules and reports/treats any injuries.
  10. Performs various administrative tasks in compliance with YMCA procedures and regulatory agencies.
  11. Maintains all program supplies and equipment.
  12. Reacts to customer feedback and implements plans to improve program quality.
  13. Develops and maintains positive relationships with children, parents, staff, and school administration.
  14. Responsible for communication to parents, school administration, YMCA, and OFCS.
  15. Maintains all required certifications. Attends and participates in all staff meetings and training sessions.
  16. Carries out other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be at least 18 years old.
  2. Meets School Age Child Care Director licensing requirements per NYS Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS): Associate degree in a child care/development related field or two (2) years of college with eighteen (18) credit hours in a childcare/development related field. Two (2) years of direct experience working with children under the age of 13 years, including at least one (1) year in a supervisory capacity.
  3. Able to lead activities for elementary school age children including group work, values education, and age- appropriate activities.
  4. Experience in program administration and staff supervision.
  5. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with participants, parents, school administration, and staff.
  6. American Red Cross, American Health Association, American Safety & Health Institute certification in CPR/AED (Adult, Child, Infant) and First Aid. Responding to Emergencies certification is preferred.
  7. Successfully completes the OCFS comprehensive background clearance requirements before beginning work at the program site.
