We are currently searching for a Manager Systems Engineering to join our team. The Manager Systems Engineering leads a team of IT professionals responsible for defining, developing, and maintaining a hybrid infrastructure, both on-premises and cloud-based, ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of systems and hardware resources. The role requires strong leadership, technical acumen, and strategic insight to drive continuous improvements in infrastructure efficiency and automation.

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead and manage a team of systems engineers responsible for the end-to-end delivery of IT infrastructure services, including servers, databases, storage, and cloud systems (Azure, AWS, etc.).
  • Develop and implement the team's strategic vision, aligning with business objectives and ensuring that infrastructure solutions support organizational goals.
  • Advocate and implement automation frameworks, adopting Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices to reduce manual effort and increase system reliability.
  • Oversee the design, deployment, and management of hybrid infrastructure solutions that leverage both cloud-based (e.g., Azure, AWS) and on-premises technologies.
  • Ensure efficient and secure cloud integration, supporting cloud migration initiatives, and optimizing resource allocation across environments.
  • Drive the modernization of infrastructure through cloud-native solutions and virtualization technologies.
  • Manage the lifecycle of infrastructure assets, including hardware refresh cycles, patch management, monitoring, and performance tuning.
  • Ensure robust system monitoring, incident management, and issue resolution processes are in place, leveraging monitoring platforms.
  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance with data protection and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business resumption plans related to system infrastructure, ensuring minimal business disruption in the event of outages or ransomware incidents.
  • Oversee infrastructure budgeting, ensuring that costs are controlled and aligned with business priorities.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor staff to drive high engagement and productivity. Establish continuous feedback loops and support staff development to their fullest potential.
  • Act as a key player in Agile methodologies, performing Scrum Master or Product Owner duties as needed. Drive team agility by fostering a collaborative, iterative approach to delivering infrastructure initiatives.
  • Promote the use of automation tools and techniques to enhance system provisioning, monitoring, and management. Encourage innovation to optimize infrastructure operations through continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Minimum Qualifications

This job requires a background that demonstrates the following minimum knowledge, skills, talents, and traits:

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in systems engineering or system administration roles, with significant leadership and team management responsibilities.
  • 3+ years of experience with cloud technologies such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, with a focus on hybrid infrastructure.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in a technology environment.
  • 4+ years of experience working within Agile environments.
  • Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and automation frameworks (e.g., Puppet, Terraform, or PowerShell scripting).
  • Experience in managing disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native technologies, containers (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and hybrid infrastructure management.
  • Expertise in systems architecture, database, and storage with a focus on automation and optimization.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills with a focus on operational excellence and security.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and grow technical teams.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities. Ability to collaborate effectively across different functional teams.
  • Experience with DevSecOps practices and tools to enhance infrastructure efficiency and agility.
  • Proven independent and critical thinker at the leadership level.
