POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Evaluation Services is responsible for conducting evaluations and providing clinical and administrative oversight of evaluation programs to ensure delivery of high-quality evaluations to clients and to funders. The Director supports positive staff development and adherence to agency and other regulatory policies and protocols and promotes best practices for psychological testing and other screening/evaluation activities. Conducts quality assurance across programs to ensure evaluations are of high quality.

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience / Qualifications

Doctoral degree (PhD, PsyD or Ed.D.) in clinical or counselling psychology is required, with demonstrated expertise in comprehensive and multi-disciplinary evaluation including evaluation of children with autism and complex social/emotional needs. Strong report-writing skills and expertise in wide range of standardized cognitive and projective testing measures.  Must have 5 years post graduate psychological evaluation experience with children and adolescents, and experience supervising testing.

 

Licensure Requirements for Clinical Positions

Credential(s) Required: Licensed as a psychologist in Connecticut.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Works collaboratively with the program staff across all evaluation program types to ensure that evaluation reports are useful to the child/youth, family and referral source, and that the child's/youth's and family's dignity is maintained throughout the evaluation process.

Works collaboratively with school districts, Carelon, DCF, and other referral sources to ensure that referral questions are clear and that they are informed as to the process, scope, and cost of the evaluation.

Ensures that the process is strengths-based for the youth and family and that their voice is included in the recommendations.

Develops and processes evaluation specific contracts with referral sources, and assists with follow-up to ensure timely payment for services provided.

Ensures that evaluation reports thoroughly address referral questions, are well written, clearly articulate assessment findings, strengths-based, integrated, balanced, free of jargon, timely, and meet quality standards, as well as provide recommendations that are clearly stated, consistent with report findings, and focus on interventions that are evidence-based and least restrictive.

Serves as role model for staff to promote strong work ethic and the use of standardized assessment measures, as well as approach children/youth and families in a trauma-informed and relational manner.

Creates, markets/promotes, and implements program development initiatives and oversees programming needs of children/youth.

Ensures that staff provides culturally competent assessments and maintain sensitivity to, and respect for, clients' cultural traditions, values, and beliefs.

Attends all  required meetings.

Provides weekly supervision to program managers and other direct reports, as well as consultation to the evaluation staff on an on-going basis.

Conducts and completes program specific written evaluations, including psychological testing and/or child and family assessments; formulates diagnosis in accordance with the Diagnostic Statistical Manual (DSM).

Develops and documents, clear, integrated, comprehensive clinical formulations and recommendations that are individualized based on evaluation results as well as demonstrates knowledge of psychopathology and other behavioral health concerns and primary modalities of psychotherapeutic intervention.

Triages clinical emergencies and implements program specific safety and consultation protocols.

Makes recommendations in accordance with best practices and evidenced based practice models where appropriate and adheres to model and program expectations.

Demonstrates knowledge of internal and external levels of care, referral processes, and resources.

Communicates, orally and in writing, in a positive, effective manner with client, family, and all internal and external providers.

Meets direct service productivity goals as defined by each program type. Demonstrates knowledge of program/department/agency goals and target outcomes, and adheres to practice standards and to data collection and reporting protocols.

Coordinates multi-disciplinary components of individual evaluations to ensure timely completion.

Adheres to all agency and department policies and procedures (e.g., confidentiality, reports child abuse, safety & infection control, etc.) and displays excellent work habits (e.g., provides excellent service, attendance and promptness at work and meetings, timeliness in completing work).

Interacts with youth and their families in a manner that is trauma-sensitive and relationally-based. Maintains required certifications, attends clinical training seminars, and ensures that program staff is adequately trained and current with regard to assessment best practices.

Carries an evaluation caseload, submits all required documentation and reports in a timely manner, and participates in and promotes quality improvement and outcome measurement activities.

Reports child abuse/neglect as mandated, adheres to confidentiality guidelines and ensures that the program meets all necessary licensing, regulatory, and accreditation standards, as related to the program, staff, records, facility, and care of children/youth.

Monitors staff time and signs off on vouchers for supervisees/fee for service staff.

Oversees the orientation of new staff.

Provides leadership, oversees and develops evaluation programs within the agency.

Assists with budget development and manages expenses associated with service delivery.

Works with department vice president to develop, monitor, and analyze clinical and programmatic outcomes.

Continues to develop knowledge and understanding about the history, traditions, values, family systems, and artistic expression of groups served as well as uses appropriate methodological approaches, skills, and techniques that reflect an understanding of culture.
