POSITION SUMMARY
The Accountant performs agency wide accounting functions including entering and posting cash deposits, reconciliation of general ledger accounts, preparing recurring and adjusting entries to various ledgers and accounts, maintaining reporting and compliance documentation, performing analytical duties in support of the Accounting Department as needed, and participating in the annual audit.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree required or Associate’s degree plus a minimum of 2 years of accounting experience required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, excellent verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving abilities, and the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment is also required. Experience working for a non-profit organization and with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central is preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares daily cash deposits including entering and posting cash receipts.
Reconciles various general ledgers accounts as assigned. Researches outstanding/reconciling items. Books correcting entries.
Prepares recurring and adjusting entries to various ledgers as required.
Participates in the annual audit.
Compiles, analyses, and presents the results of analysis of financial and grant information in support of the Accounting Department.
Maintains grant reporting, compliance and other paper and digital records for timeliness and completeness.
Acts as back up for various Accounting functions when coverage is required and as assigned.
Continues to develop knowledge and understanding about the history, traditions, values, family systems, and artistic expression of groups served as well as uses appropriate methodological approaches, skills, and techniques that reflect an understanding of culture.
